4th Gen Bolt on Sliders - Questions, opinions, and feedback

There is a lot of great information within the 4th gen Armor Sticky, but the first page hasn't been updated since It's also getting a little busy with conversations about all different types of Armor.

4th Gen Armor Thread

To keep things simple lets keep this thread about Bolt on Sliders only. Yes, many will want to chime in that weld on sliders are better and stronger, but many of us don't have access to a welder, however we do have access to hand tools and this thread will support many DIYers who want to add sliders to their rigs. Bolt on sliders can lift a T4R with a high lift jack so for the majority of us moderate offroaders, Overlanders, and mall crawlers bolt on sliders should do just fine.

I will work to keep the first page updated with new information as time goes along so please share your information and feedback as you deem appropriate.

What would you or what did you choose and why?

Things to concider:
1) Bump out or straight
2) Top Plate, partial top plate, or no top Plate
3) Powder Coat or bare steel
4) Location of mfg., for shipping
5) Burliness of slider - some offer thicker walled tubing vs. regular

I'm personally looking to replace my running boards this spring if and when a group buy is available. I am looking to get sliders with top plates as I am almost always putting something on top of my T4R.

As the title of this thread indicates I am looking to add bolt on sliders to my 4th gen, however, I am confused by all the different manufactures and why one, or how one, is better than the other. I'm hoping those that are knowledgeable in the land of sliders will offer information to help us on the forum make a better choice when choosing bolt on sliders.

What should those of us looking to add bolt on sliders look for?

Is powder coating necessary?
If not, what is the best method of painting sliders

Any additional information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all those that can share their expertise regarding bolt on sliders!

Cheers!!!

Powder coating is definitely not necessary but a nice addition. Holds up stronger than most paints do. However if you do opt to not powder coat VHT Epoxy paint holds up really well to the elements and comes in satin or gloss black.

This thread is relevant to my interests. I'm also considering bolt on sliders. I won't be doing any hardcore rock crawling or other such nonsense, I just want a bit of protection for mellow off-roading and overlanding.

I've had RCI's bolt on sliders for about a year I think know. Really couldn't ask for better sliders.

Completely bolt on, nice powdercoating, awesome top plate, and all for a relatively fair price considering what you are getting. The install was a breeze and they are strong as hell. I haven't had to use a hi-lift on them yet, but I did come down on a few nasty rocks a couple of times and they sure as hell saved my rockers.

One rock I slammed on because my wheel slipped off the rock it was hugging. Hit the slider HARD and I freaked out because I thought it was going to be bent or chipped up on the paint. Neither were the case and since that point I've been a massive fan of RCI stuff (Their A-Arm skids look pretty badass too )

I am going with the white knuckle and will be welding them on. I like the c4 also but my buddy has the white knuckle sliders and I really like the way they look and they are very high quality. I will buy them bare and take them to the line-x guy, I am not a huge fan of powder coat.

Rocky Road Outfitters also has some interesting bolt on sliders which I have and I love them. Check them out. One of these days I'll write up an install thread and review.

RCI Sliders

I have the RCI sliders and have been happy with them. Install was mostly easy. A couple of the through bolts are a bit a PITA to get tightened. This last weekend I used the Lotus slider adapter with my Hilift to change a tire and it worked well. My only gripe is when exiting the vehicle it can be hard not to get your pants dirty. I'm ok with it because of the extra body protection it provides.

There's also BudBuilt for bolt on, which is what I'm running. They have with or without kickout.

I've got the Shrocks and I will say, when its wet, the things made a lot of noise with just tiny little movements, contortions in the frame etc. I ended up welding them on and now theyre perfect.

I just added the White Knuckle's to my T4R.
I liked the looks of the kick out with the rear tread.
Very well madeHEAVY duty.
Of all the sliders these seem to be the only ones that use a U-bolt type connection?
I don't have a body liftthat would be beneficial.

The area between the top edge of the slider mount and the bottom of the 4runner body have only maybe 1/4" at best.
When I have a passenger I get a 'Clunk' on speed bumps as I think slider and body are connecting. Front passenger side.
The fuel lines get in the way of the U-bolts and have to be shifted slightly.
The stock fuel tank skid needs to be bent slightly to clear the U-bolt with out rubbing.
The U-bolts have about 1/8"+ larger gap than the frame rails allowing some movement. I had them at their lowest possible mounting to get 1/4" clearance for the rear doors to open. I used a flood jack after mounting to 'test' them and one shifted enough to rub on the doormaybe didn't get it tight enough?
The U-bolts threads are way too long and need to be trimmedat least not to short.
Snow kicks up on the rear step and hinders rear door opening.
Grama hates em

I like, but I think I will at some point get these welded on.

I've been eying the white knuckle sliders for a while now. Bolt on, DOM, +1" for body lift, bare and paint them myself for easy touch ups.

Another point to consider is shipping charges. They seem to run around $ from any of those places to me in Indiana but I assume you being closer to some and further from others might help.

Rock Sliders | 4Runner / GX

Description

DETAILS

The rocker panel is the most vulnerable area on your vehicle when off-road, as well as one of the most costly to repair. Protect your investment with a pair of RCI heavy duty rock sliders.

RCI sliders utilize a full frame support mounting plate which serves both to protect your frame from damage, as well as provides an extremely rigid attachment for the sliders by using multiple bolt locations all across the frame. These will help protect the truck both off-road as well as in the parking lot, and are still functional as a step if needed.

KEY FEATURES

  • Protects rocker panels and doors
  • Our sliders utilize a 2&#; square main tube which is far stronger than &#; round tube used by competitors
  • &#; DOM outer tubing is now standard for uncompromised strength
  • Heavy Duty 1/4&#; gussets on all legs
  • 45 degree mitered main tube ends provide a superior aesthetic appearance as well as more functional design that won&#;t hang up
  • Full length 1/4&#; frame plate and three leg design guarantee a slider as strong or stronger than anything on the market
  • Easily capable of supporting the entire side of truck for lifting with hi-lift, or sliding on rocks
  • 5° upward angle creates a low profile with maximum ground clearance, while remaining usable as a step
  • Direct bolt on addition to existing mounting locations, no drilling required
  • Available tread plate for for use as a step
  • Easy install with only basic hand tools
  • Available with our heavy duty black textured powdercoat finish, plus we take it a step further and coat all rock sliders with an epoxy primer for an exponentially more durable finish than competitors. We now powder coat in-house allowing us to provide better quality, and shorter lead times for the same cost!
  • All hardware provided
  • Fits 4runners without Xreas (Xreas model available by special request, call for details)
  • Includes our signature low profile rear kick-out standard

*Also fits GX, however it will require removing the factory steps / trim below the body pinch seam

**Does not fit KDSS models of GX

**Please see our &#;Current Lead Times&#; tab for the most up to date information!

QJohn • 06/25/, PMWhat's the torque spec for each bolt?

A07/01/, AMNo official torque specs. Tight is fine.

QTodd • 07/20/, PMI have a V8 without KDSS. Does the "except V8" mean I need to modify these, or since I don't have KDSS am I fine?

A08/05/, AMThe V8 cross member is in a different place, that's why we say they aren't compatible.

QJosh • 07/21/, PMWhat is the tubing wall thickness and is it HREW or DOM?

A07/21/, PM wall HREW

QMatt • 08/01/, AMCurious what is the reason why these won't work with the 4th gen V8.

A08/05/, AMThe crossmember that the front leg mounts to is in a different location on the V8

Qdavid roth • 08/20/, PMDo these sliders fit all 4th gen V8 and V6 models or do you have to specify when ordering.

A11/10/, PMThey are designed to handle the full weight of the vehicle on them.

QJeremy • 11/08/, PMIs the "Bare Metal" the standard Silver color of metal? The only way to get them in black is the powder coat?

A11/10/, PMCorrect, bare metal is no coating at all.

QReece Grinwis • 12/09/, PMdoes it fit a 4th gen v8 model?

A12/10/, AMThey do not.

QTJ • 12/14/, PMHow far is the spacing from frame to main beam? And what’s the lengthier the sliders?

A12/15/, PMRoughly 8" spacing, sliders are right around 63" long.

QBob • 12/16/, PMWhat are the differences between the strike and the blitz sliders?

A12/23/, PMThe Strike are tube style, the Blitz are a two piece fabricated style. The Strikes are slightly stronger.

QJoseph Enriquez • 12/21/, PMIf I remove the rocker panels on my 4Runner Limited, will it still be possible to install with XREAS?

A12/23/, PMWe have not tested with the 5th gen XREAS system. If you contact customer service with some photos of your frame rails we may be able to help further. [email&#;protected]

How to Install RSG Rock Sliders on a 2010 - 2021 Toyota 4runner

They poured powerfully into her and she drank them. The commander-in-chief, receiving the blow of her blades and feeling the strength they were taking away, realized that he had miscalculated her needs. She drank the life not only of a warrior (the poor man soon disappeared, becoming ashes and flames), but also of him, intending to take so much until.

Then she, without waiting for further instructions, opened her mouth wider and carefully covered the flesh that was about to burst with it. From the surging pleasure, I moaned a little, forgetting about everything. Masha more and more confidently caressed the penis, apparently recalling scenes from the porn videos she had seen.

Her lips and tongue then descended to the testicles, then slid along the trunk, then clasped the head, trying to suck out the last strength from me to resist.

My partner grabs my lower back with her legs and squeals, the penis moves back and forth quickly, the balls slap on. The buttocks, Ira digs into my back with her claws, it spurs me on even more. I throw her legs over my shoulders and continue. I just can't finish and I ask Ira to stand up with cancer, which she did. Her big, lush ass, combined with a rather thin waist, looked awesome.
