Chrysler Features

The Chrysler is available in four trim levels that are named LX, Touring, Limited, and S. The base LX trim level comes with a price tag of $18, while the range-topping S trim level retails at $26, The LX trim level brings in basic features and amenities inside that don’t really account for much and hence feels barebones and less equipped with features. The Touring trim level seems to bring some modern features and elements inside the Chrysler and seems to be the right option to go for if you are looking for a Chrysler with a tight budget. The S trim level tops the range and comes with some premium features and creature comforts along with a powerful V6 engine while the lower trims come with an inline-4 engine.

We Recommend

The Touring trim seems to be the one to go for if you are in the market to purchase a Chrysler It brings in some useful and practical features on top of the standard features that come with the LX trim level and comes with a naturally aspirated inline-4 engine that seems to have a decent amount of power and punch to it. Another impressive thing about the Touring trim is the fact that it is priced at $21, which is quite affordable if you plan on purchasing a sedan under the $25, mark.

Chrysler Engine and Performance

/10

The Chrysler comes with a L naturally aspirated inline-4 motor that produces a decent horsepower and lb-ft. of torque. The L inline-4 is the standard engine unit that comes with the LX, Touring, and Limited trim level versions while the S trim level gets a powerful L naturally aspirated V6 that produces horsepower and lb-ft. of torque. Although the V6 might seem to be a better option in the lineup, it is available only with the S trim level that is priced around the $27, bracket.

The smaller L inline-4 engine comes mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox which shifts through the gears smoothly but the shifts aren’t quick enough. The larger L V6 on the other hand gets a 6-speed automatic transmission which seems like a better option.

All trims of the Chrysler come with an FWD drivetrain option. The Chrysler with the base engine can accelerate from mph in seconds and can cover a quarter-mile distance from a standstill in seconds. It has a top speed of mph.

The Ford Fusion seems to be the quickest car in the segment as it goes from mph in seconds, while the Hyundai Sonata gets the most powerful engine in the segment that produces hp and lb.-ft of torque and additionally, has the highest top speed of mph, but its performance in the acceleration test feels underwhelming. The Chrysler proves to have a handsome price tag in comparison with its rivals and has enough power to go through the cityscapes, similar to the Chevrolet Malibu.

Chrysler Fuel Economy

/10

Fuel economy and range aren’t in the Chrysler ’s list of positive attributes. The Chrysler manages to offer a combined fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon which is the lowest in the segment. It offers 21 and 30 MPG in the city and highway respectively which might seem a normal fuel economy for a sedan in its class but compared to its rivals, these numbers definitely smaller than what its rivals offer. As expected, with the V6 trim, combined efficiency falls further down to 22 MPG

The fuel tank on offer has a capacity of gallons which again, proves to be one of the smallest tank capacities in its class meaning that the Chrysler fails to provide a better fuel range than the rest of the cars. It offers a combined fuel range of miles which definitely is the smallest range in its class.

The Hyundai Sonata with its gallons tank capacity and a combined fuel economy of 28 MPG offers the best range of miles, which compared to the Chrysler ’s miles combined fuel range has around more miles on offer. On the other hand, both the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu average higher efficiencies of 25 and 26 MPG, respectively, and even with almost similar fuel-tank capacities perform better when the range is concerned.

Chrysler Interior

/10

The Chrysler ’s interior is pretty crude if you consider buying the base LX trim level as it comes with only the basic interior features and creature comforts on offer. The overall interior layout looks regal and has a modern touch to it with the clock in between the HVAC vents on the dashboard adding a regal touch to the interior for sure.

The base LX trim comes with basic features such as manually adjustable front seats with height adjustments and a manual air conditioning unit. The seats are wide and comfortable and have manually adjustable lumbar support as well. Opting for the higher S trim level will get you 8-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and air conditioning with auto temperature control.

The second-row seats are split-bench seats with an armrest in the center. The Chrysler seems to be the most spacious car in its class with respect to second-row space and that definitely is an attractive attribute of the Chrysler Not only is the Chrysler spacious, but it also has a smooth and comfortable ride quality that complements its spacious interior to give you one of the most comfortable traveling experiences in its segment. The S trim level has leather upholstered second-row seats on offer.

The trunk capacity is the smallest in its class and that definitely is a drawback on the Chrysler ’s part. With only cubic feet of cargo space, it really could have had better cargo capacity compared to most of its rivals.

Trunk Capacity (cubic feet)

The Chrysler might have the largest interior capacity, but its smaller trunk volume makes it a less preferable choice compared to the Ford Fusion that has cubic feet of trunk capacity on offer. In terms of passenger space, while all sedans can seat five passengers each, the Hyundai Sonata provides unparalleled legroom for the front seat occupants. However, it does restrict space for the rear seat occupants a tad bit. The Chevrolet Malibu provides proportionate space for both rows and feels like a more practical option with its sizable boot capacity.

Some of the notable interior features are:

  • Leather Seats
  • 8-Way adjustable driver seat
  • Heated front seats
  • Split rear seat
  • Luxury floor mats
  • Leather steering wheel

How intuitive is the Chrysler ’s Infotainment unit?

The base LX trim level of the Chrysler comes with a few infotainment features such as a 4-speaker audio system, mp3 player and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

The higher S trim level on the other hand offers some intriguing infotainment features such as a inch touchscreen infotainment display unit as well as a 6-speaker Boston Acoustics audio system, Uconnect voice control module, Bluetooth audio, and phone connectivity as well as SiriusXM satellite radio.

Some of the notable infotainment features are:

  • Auxiliary Audio Input
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Satellite Radio
  • Removable antenna
  • USB port
  • Steering mounted audio controls

Chrysler Exterior

/10

The Chrysler has a striking yet subtle exterior styling that makes it look like a premium sedan. Its flowing front fascia along with the chrome grille and bi-function halogen projector headlamps add a striking look to it while the side profile seems pretty decent and modernistic.

The rear fascia gets a chrome strip along with the LED tail lamps on either end. The standard set of wheels are inch and opting for the higher trim levels will provide you with an inch set of wheels as well. The Chrysler has the right dimensions for a midsize sedan that lets it provide the best interior space in the segment despite the fact that it has one of the lowest wheelbases in the segment.

Wheelbase (inches)

The Chrysler is one of the heaviest cars in the segment with a curb weight right above the 3, lbs. mark. This allows the Chrysler to be stable and smooth on the roads with the help of the softer suspension system and the lower wheelbase makes it easier to maneuver through tight spaces. It is also one of the longest sedans at inches, however, its wheelbase of inches is shorter than the Sonata and Malibu that sport wheelbases of and inches. While it is also the widest option on offer, it is the shortest in overall height. The Ford Fusion is the closest competitor to Chrysler in terms of overall dimensions, while the other competitors are marginally taller.

Some of the notable exterior features are:

  • Black finish grille
  • All-season Touring tires
  • Black windshield moldings
  • Fog Lamps
  • Tinted windows
  • Front & rear solar control glass

Chrysler Safety

/10

For , the Chrysler gets an overall safety rating of four stars out of five as per the NHTSA safety ratings and similar safety ratings from other agencies like the IIHS as well. The Chrysler is a structurally sound car and has some standard safety features that come along with it which further add to its safety quotient. The safety features that come with the Chrysler include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Advanced multi-stage front airbags, and internal trunk release.

Some of the notable safety features are:

  • Post-Collision Safety System
  • Emergency Braking Assist
  • Engine Immobilizer
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
  • Auto-delay off headlamps
  • Anti-theft alarm system

Chrysler Final Verdict

The Chrysler is a bargain compared to what the other cars in the segment cost and is certainly one of the best options in the segment when it comes to interior space, quality, ride comfort, and safety quotient.

The Chrysler is one of the cheapest cars to buy in its segment and is definitely worth the money. Though the base trim level doesn’t have much to offer, opting for the higher trim levels according to your budget and needs will definitely be recommended to get the best out of the Chrysler

How To Update Uconnect 8.4 System In Your 2011-2014 Chrysler, Dodge, Or Jeep!

Be Smart, Check in Advance. CARFAX — Your Vehicle History.

CARFAX — Your Vehicle History Expert

Sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you, but that's not the case when buying a used car. As an independent vehicle history provider, at CARFAX we've made it our mission to tell you everything you need to know by uncovering as many events as possible from the previous life of a used car. Our primary goal is to help you get to know your next car from the inside out before deciding to make an investment that will be part of you and your family's everyday life. We believe your next car shouldn't be hiding anything from you.

CARFAX Vehicle History Reports contain over 28 billion historical records from 20 European countries, the US and Canada, which are updated daily with new information.

Even if you live in a country we don't collect vehicle data from, it's still always worth checking the Vehicle Identification Number without obligation. The used car import and export market is booming and many owners would be surprised to find out exactly what happened to their vehicle during its previous life abroad.

Privacy for Customers — Transparency over Vehicles

Let's be clear: Although we strive to find every detail of a vehicle's life so far, we are focused only on the vehicle's history, and do not collect any information on previous owners. The information we provide relates solely to the vehicle, its odometer reading, any accidents that have been covered up, where the vehicle comes from and much more — it never gets personal. We've uncovered irreparable damage several times in the past, but other times our vehicle history checks draw a blank — and sometimes that's actually a good thing.

Second Hand — Not Second Best

Did you know that considerably more used cars are sold than new cars? We think this second-hand system is nothing short of fantastic. However, it goes without saying that it gives rise to different methods and tactics: Some sellers will disguise a car that's been in an accident under a fresh coat of paint, tamper with the odometer or conceal theft. This is one of the less appealing aspects of buying second hand. Our goal is to establish trusting relationships between buyers and sellers, since this is the best way to help customers make the right decision. Your new car should be reliable and make you feel safe, as well as make you feel like you haven't paid too much.

But more than anything else, we don't want you or your family unknowingly sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle that isn't % safe. This is why we strive to take these vehicles off the road, which not only makes the used car market safer but our streets safer too.

CARFAX — 35+ Years of Experience in Vehicle Histories

CARFAX was founded in the US in and expanded into Europe in Around team members spread across six European offices process vehicle information from 22 countries.

Fostering strategic partnerships with registration authorities, law enforcement agencies, government departments, insurance companies, inspection centers and numerous other leading companies around the world has enabled us to compile a unique international database for vehicle histories. We use this database to help make the used car market more transparent. We give everyone in the process of buying a used car access to what is currently the world's most comprehensive source for vehicle history reports, and is growing day by day.

We remain neutral and independent despite our partnerships — our sole purpose is help customers make an informed choice and ensure their safety and the safety of their family. This includes never collecting any personal details — we do not accept any PII from data sources amongst the information we provide about a vehicle. We ensure that data protection laws are observed at all times. Furthermore, we always collect our data in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks — in all the countries in which we are active. We expressly distance ourselves from illegal activities such as data theft, scraping and hacking.

MARC URBANO, THE MANUFACTURER

Although this cat already escaped the bag a few weeks ago when our spy photographers nabbed some clear pictures of an unmasked Chrysler C SRT8, we still felt giddy as we sorted through the official details. Indeed, the particulars have us looking forward to overwriting fond memories of the last-gen car—an office favorite for its antics-inspiring hp, liter Hemi V-8—with ones created behind the wheel of the even burlier new model.

The Muscle

We’ll cut right to the meat and potatoes. As expected, the new SRT8 is packing a liter Hemi V-8 engine, producing an “estimated hp and lb-ft of torque.” If those numbers hold up, they represent increases of 40 hp and 45 lb-ft over the outgoing model. The same five-speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox, but as in the Charger STR8, paddle shifters will live behind the flat-bottomed steering wheel. The wheel, Chrysler says, manipulates a livelier rack than before. The company expects 60 mph to arrive in the high four-second range and the quarter-mile to take just under 13 seconds. Although the new version will be heavier, we don’t see those times being difficult to achieve, as the last car hit 60 mph in seconds and the quarter in in our testing. A screen in the IP includes a function to keep tabs on your personal 0-tomph times, maximum lateral acceleration, and quarter-mile times, among other numerical bragging points.

Along with, highway fuel economy is also projected to increase—this by an estimated 25 percent. To that end, the liter gets cylinder deactivation, and an active exhaust system allows it to work over a wider rpm range. The engine and exhaust also are said to have a throatier voice, which is most excellent: SRT had a virtuoso as a base point of comparison (listen to the old SRT8 here).

A bit stiff riding at times, the old model should be trumped by the and its Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS). Using variables that include vehicle speed, steering angle, steering speed, throttle position, and lateral force, the suspension automatically adjusts to road conditions and driving style. It offers a choice between Auto and Sport modes, with the latter giving the driver full control of shifting duties. The braking system carries over but cooling is likely to improve from a new belly pan with integrated brake ducting. New motor mounts will attempt to do away with the fun but admittedly un-luxurious muscle-car shake at idle.

The Luxury

Those seeking the luxury angle of the C SRT8 will find the updated interior from the regular C a welcome change. Adding to the base car’s vastly improved materials, the SRT8 gets real carbon-fiber trim along with the aforementioned unique steering wheel. Like the normal , the center stack also features the inch touch-screen display, but here it comes with standard navigation and can control an optional and monstrous watt, speaker Harman/Kardon stereo. Additional luxury can be had from the Premium Leather Interior package, which stretches so-called “Foligno” leather over the door uppers, the instrument panel, the cluster hood, and the sides of the center console. Nappa leather then takes over to finish the doors, armrest, and center armrests. It’s a far cry from the hard plastics of the recent past.

The Looks

Backing up the underhood muscle are the new front and rear fascias, side skirts, dual four-inch (!) softball-shooter exhaust tips, and unique inch wheels. The kit adds definite visual spice to the already-zesty look of the , but you can go one step further: A new Black Chrome package swaps in upper and lower grille surrounds, a rear valance strip, and wheels rendered in the dark shiny stuff.

The SRT8 hits dealers in the third quarter of this year. We’ll take ours in all black with all the black chrome you’ve got.
