UPDATE: Two hospitalized after tractor-trailer crash on I North in Montgomery County
UPDATE p.m.: VDOT traffic cameras are showing that traffic is moving normally at the scene of an earlier tractor-trailer crash on I North at mile marker in Montgomery County after crews reopened all lanes.
According to Montgomery County Emergency Services, members of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department, Shawsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department, and Christiansburg Rescue were called out to the scene of Sunday afternoons tractor-trailer crash near mile marker
Officials say one tractor-trailer had rear-ended another, leaving the driver of the first tractor-trailer trapped inside. First responders used hydraulic tools to free the driver before the driver was brought to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Montgomery County Emergency Services says one person from a third vehicle was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
UPDATE p.m.: Emergency crews have cleared all tractor-trailers that were involved in the crash at mile marker on I North in Montgomery County.
The right lane and right shoulder, however, are still closed as crews clean up the crash scene.
Expect delays if traveling in this area, which VDOT still reports being approximately seven miles.
WFXR News had a crew drive by the scene just after the tractor-trailers were removed.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) Two crashes are causing problems on interstates in our region.
The first is a tractor-trailer crash on I North in Montgomery County. The crash is at mile marker , where the right lane and right shoulder are closed.
Scanner traffic indicates that a helicopter is en route to this crash, which will result in I North needing to be shut down completely when that chopper arrives, which should be around p.m.
Also, a multi-vehicle crash is causing problems on I South in Wythe County. This crash is located at mile marker where the left shoulder and left lane are closed.
Traffic is getting by at both locations; however, significant slowdowns can be expected at each location.
Drivers planning to be in either location should plan on finding another route to avoid significant delays.

Crash on I kills one
HARRISONBURG — Virginia State Police said a woman was killed in a three-car crash Thursday night on Interstate 81 in Rockingham County.
The crash took place shortly after 7 p.m. at the mile marker.
Police said a woman in a Honda CR-V was stopped in heavy traffic in the southbound lanes when her vehicle was rear-ended by a man driving a Buick Lucerne. The impact pushed the Honda into a Chevrolet Silverado that was also stopped.
Police said the Honda then caught fire.
The unidentified year-old woman, who was from Chesterfield, died at the scene. Police are withholding her identification until next-of-kin are notified.
The driver of the Buick, Samuel C. Holtzman, 22, of Harrisonburg, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment.
Holtzman is charged with reckless driving.
A Tennessee man in the Silverado was not injured, according to police.
The Virginia State Police Culpeper Division Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is assisting with the ongoing crash investigation.

VSP: Driver seriously injured after crash involving tractor-trailer on I
BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) One person was seriously injured Thursday morning after a crash on Interstate 81 in Washington County, Virginia.
According to a release from the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred on I North near mile marker 10 at a.m.
VSP reports a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. The driver of the passenger vehicle was reportedly transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The Bristol Virginia Professional Firefighters Association posted to Facebook, stating that their department was called to the scene of the crash to assist Washington County Fire and Rescue.
The post states the person injured in the crash was trapped and the vehicle was almost completely under the loaded trailer. Firefighters report crews on the scene used high-pressure airbags to take off the roof and doors of the vehicle so they could get the driver out.
The crash is still under investigation as of Thursday afternoon, VSP reports.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - VDOT Update: As of a.m. on October 8, all lanes on Interstate 81 in the Harrisonburg area have reopened following a crash that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on October 7.
Original VDOT Report: All southbound lanes and the left northbound lane on Interstate 81 are closed at mile-marker due to a crash.
This location is between exit at Route 33 and exit at Route 11 in the Harrisonburg area.
The northbound lane is expected to open soon, but southbound lanes will remain closed. There is no estimate for southbound reopening. Traffic in this area will detour off of I at exit
Traffic backups are approximately miles.
An earlier crash on I southbound at mile-marker has all lanes open with a mile backup.
Motorists should expect extensive delays in this area.

year-old Chesterfield woman dies in three-vehicle crash on I
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) A year-old Chesterfield woman died in a three-vehicle crash in Rockingham County that caused her car to catch on fire, according to Virginia State Police.
State police said the crash happened at p.m. on Oct. 7, on I southbound when a Buick Lucerne rear-ended a Honda CRV that stopped because of heavy traffic. This caused the Hondo to be pushed into a Chevrolet Silverado that was also stopped due to traffic.
The Honda caught on fire during this crash, according to state police.
VSP said the driver of the Honda, a year-old woman from Chesterfield, died at the scene of the crash because of her injuries. Her identity is being withheld until her next of kin is notified.
The driver of the Buick, Samuel C. Holtzman, 22, of Harrisonburg, received minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Sentara RMH Hospital for treatment.
State police said the driver of the Chevrolet, a year-old man from Thorn Hill, TN, was not injured in the crash.
Holtzman was charged with reckless driving, according to officials.
VSP said this is an ongoing investigation.
