The last time we did a “Most Expensive” post on a Corvette was in February when we ended up with an eye-watering $, for the C7 ZR1. With the C8 being released initially in the base Stingray guise, it obviously doesn’t get close to the premium Chevy asked for the flagship version of its previous generation Corvette even if you tick all the boxes.
The bowtie company launched an online visualizer for the mid-engined coupe in mid-July shortly after the C8’s much-hyped debut, but without including pricing details. At that time, each and every Motor1.com editor spent some time with the customization tool to create the ideal C8, and now we know how much it would set us back to own the perfect Corvette.
Chevy has quietly uploaded the C8 full configurator on its website and math starts at $59, for the base 1LT as announced mid-August when pricing details were released. Step up to the midrange 2LT and the price will jump to $67,, while the high-end 3LT begins from $71, Then we head to the rest of the configurator, specifically in the “Packages” section where we’ll find the Z51 Performance Package for $5, Here’s what this option gets you:
- Z51 performance Brembo brakes;
- Z51 performance suspension;
- Performance exhaust;
- Performance rear axle ratio;
- Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD);
- Zspecific front splitter and rear spoiler;
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4S /35ZR19 front and /30ZR20 rear, high performance, run-flat, summer-only tires;
- Heavy-duty cooling system.
In the same section of the configurator, Chevy lists the Engine Appearance Package for $, bringing LEDs illuminating the engine compartment along with carbon fiber closeout panels on both sides of the liter V8 engine.
Of the four Premium colors, only this Sebring Orange Tintcoat and the Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat cost $ as the other two – Rapid Blue and Accelerate Yellow Metallic – are $ The vibrant shade can be complemented by dual stripes that’ll set you back an additional $ Additional upgrades on the outside include the $1, inch front & inch rear Spectra Gray wheels, a $3, carbon fiber dual roof package, and a pricey $4, ground effects kit in carbon fiber.
In our quest to max out the configurator, we decided to add all sorts of miscellaneous items: battery protection package ($), silver center wheel caps ($), black lug nuts ($), black wheel lock kit ($), fender stripes ($), a chrome exterior badge package ($), shadow gray accents for the front & rear grilles and side vents ($), and even exterior and indoor car covers available for $ each.
Stepping inside, we obviously picked the optional $ Competition Sport bucket seats and combined them with $ Torch Red seatbelts and $ Adrenaline Red leather stitching. The carbon fiber trim was an extra $1,, while the steering wheel wrapped in sueded microfiber was a $ option.
To top it all off, we went with the $ Corvette Museum Delivery, the $1, two leather travel bags, and even a rear fascia protection for $
$, is what the maxed-out configurator says, including the $1, destination charges. Bear in mind we’ve been talking about the coupe as the configurator for the recently revealed convertible is not up yet. You can already spec one on Chevy’s site, but the full pricing info will not be attached to your ideal build. That being said, we already know the convertible commands a $7, premium over the coupe, so it’s not all that difficult to figure out how much a fully loaded Corvette Stingray Convertible is going to cost.
Needleless to say, future versions such as the Z06 and eventually the rumored horsepower ZR1 will drive up the price furthermore. Meanwhile, you can play with the Stingray configurator here.
Located in Forked River, New Jersey (down by the shore) this buyer is clearly serious about selling this car. They're also defensive about their decision to do so, saying, "YES! This is MORE than MSRP." and, "YES! It costs money to be the first one on the block with the new toy." I mean, it didn't cost him any extra money, but I digress.
The mileage is currently at around , but the seller states he's trying to get the car up to miles to break it in completely and unlock the normal RPM redline. They're also willing to ship it worldwide, as long as the buyer pays for it. So what they really mean is, we can ship the car after we buy it. Nice.
While all of these cars are overpriced, they are a few of your options if you just cannot live without a new Corvette any longer. If I were you? I would just wait. Production is starting back up in Bowling Green, and sooner or later brand new cars will start rolling off the line. If you wait to order one, you can also get it in a color besides white. Maybe go crazy and get black, or something.
Correction: Tuesday, June 2, pm ET: A previous version of this story stated that Corvette production had been restarted in Detroit. Corvettes are made in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Drive regrets the error.

Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible Price Sees Huge Price Bump
Drop-top is considerably more expensive than the coupe
You only need $59, to get your hands on a new C8 Corvette, if you plan on buying the coupe. But what if you have your heart set on the drop-top? Today, GM revealed that the Chevrolet Corvette convertible will cost $7, more than the base 1LT coupe, bringing its starting price up to $67,
The new C8 Corvette convertible is a pretty good deal when you compare it to other convertible sports cars. You'll have to pay $72, for a hp Porsche Boxster S, and the hp V-6 Jaguar F-Type will set you back $88, If you want an Audi R8 Spyder, you're looking at a price tag of $, Chevrolet hasn't announced full pricing information for the new convertible, so we don't know how expensive it can get with options or higher trims.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Corvette Stingray is here.
The Chevrolet Corvette C7 convertible carried a starting price of $61, The price gap between the base Corvette coupe and convertible was just $4,
Expect the big upgrades from the C8 Corvette coupe to make their way to the convertible. That includes the mid-mounted liter naturally aspirated V-8 churning out hp and lb-ft of torque when equipped with the performance exhaust. The engine pairs to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Chevy says the convertible boasts the same amount of storage space as the coupe.
The new C8 Corvette convertible is the first hardtop Corvette convertible ever. The top is powered by six electric motors, and retracts in a Chevy-estimated 16 seconds. The weight penalty for the power hardtop is less than 80 pounds, according to Chevy, who also says the convertible model offers "nearly the same performance as the coupe" thanks to springs and dampers tuned specifically for the drop-top. We'll need some seat time to verify that, however.
The Chevrolet Corvette Convertible C8 goes into production late in the first quarter of Production on the C8 coupe starts later this year.

Corvette how 2020 much for
The C8 Chevrolet Corvette's Sub-$60K Base Price Will Only Last a Year
Source says to expect a hike in starting price for
GM shocked the automotive world when it announced that the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Stingray would have a base price under $60, True to its word, Chevy recently released full pricing details on the C8 Corvette, revealing a starting price of $59, including destination charge. That makes the mid-engine Corvette a huge bargain, but according to our intel, that brag-worthy base price won't last long.
A well-placed source revealed to our friends at MotorTrend that the sub-$60, base price would only last for the first model year. For , you can expect to see a price hike. Just how much of a hike? Back in , the Chevrolet Corvette launched with a starting price of $51,—a number that was easy to swallow since it represented a jump of only $1, from the outgoing C6. But a few months into the C7 Corvette's inaugural year, Chevy raised the base price to $53,, citing higher-than-expected demand. By the model year, the C7's starting price had risen to $55,, a full $4, more than its original MSRP. Of course, it would've been hard to find a C7 for sticker price at launch anyway, but that's another story. The good news on that front regarding C8 is that some large Corvette dealers have vowed to not mark up the car.

C8 Design Analysis: "I'm Disappointed"
We don't know exactly how much the base price will go up on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, but the plan to raise it doesn't surprise us. Practically everyone in the industry speculated that the C8 would be significantly more expensive than the C7. Not only did GM redesign the car from the ground up with a new mid-engine layout, it had to invest in all-new tooling for its Bowling Green plant. Selling more Silverados and Equinoxes wasn't going to cover that cost alone. By announcing a base price lower than expected, Chevy got everyone's attention and managed to create more hype around a car that was already among the most hyped in history. Plus, hard-core Corvette fans might grumble about the move to mid-engine and lack of a manual transmission, but they can't complain too much about a price difference of just $3, between base C8 and C7. By launching with a lower starting price, Chevy eases repeat Corvette buyers into the C8's inevitably higher price range with less risk of sticker shock.
Regardless of how much it costs, though, you can be sure the C8 Corvette will be a world-class performance value. It just won't be a sub-$60, one for long.
