How to Unlock The Jade Rabbit in Destiny 2

The Jade Rabbit is one of Destiny 2's old-school weapons. However, it is still perfectly viable in the modern Destiny meta. Here's how to find one.

Instead of releasing Destiny 3 and 4, Bungie has done a great job of building and expanding the world and story of Destiny 2. Each expansion adds new weapons, armor, missions, and lore to the game. Now in year 4, Bungie's latest expansion, titled Beyond Light, introduces a handful of new elements into the game. Players often clamor for the newest guns and latest armor, but sometimes, old-school is the best-school.

For those who didn't know, Destiny has moved to free-to-play since the release of its major expansions. Those who were on the ground floor remember The Curse of Osirus, released in December of 2017. With it came the Leviathan, Eater of Worlds Raid, and effectively launched Destiny 2 into becoming the game it is today. One weapon, in particular, that was introduced in the Curse of Osisris is the Jade Rabit. While considered an 'old-school' weapon, the Jade Rabbit is still perfectly viable in today's Destiny 2 meta. Here's how to unlock the Jade Rabbit Scout Rifle in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 - The Jade Rabbit

The Jade Rabbit is an exotic Kinetic Scout Rifle firing at 150 RPM. It can be found in Exotic Engrams, which can be earned as rare drops for completing missions and defeating enemies. Complete weekly milestones for more powerful engrams and a better chance of obtaining The Jade Rabbit. There's no real secret to increasing your chances of finding the Jade Rabbit. Players will have to grind PvE and PvP until they eventually unlock it. Consider it a nice surprise when the Random Number Gods decide it's time to reward an exotic engram, furthermore decoding it into The Jade Rabbit.

The Jade Rabit: Stats

The Jade Rabbit is an all-around balanced Exotic Scout Rifle that most players will be able to use.

  • Impact - 67
  • Range - 82
  • Stability - 46
  • Reload Speed - 59
  • RPM - 150
  • Magazine Size - 10

The Jade Rabbit also has the following upgrade options to tune it to the player's personal preference:

  • The Fate of All Fools - Chain body shots to gain bonus damage on your next precision shot and return ammo to the magazine.
  • Polygonal Rifling - Increases Stability
  • Armor-Piercing Rounds - Rounds cause extra damage to combatants' shields and over-penetrate targets (slightly increases Range).
  • Zen Moment - Causing damage with this weapon increases its stability.
  • Dual Speed Receiver - When aiming down sights, weapon rate of fire slows while weapon damage increases.
  • Hand-Laid Stock - This weapon is optimized for recoil control (increase stability).

The Jade Rabit is all about landing that first shot. Players that can place an accurate first shot on an opponent will be reward with the above buffs, ultimetly culminating in a high-damage precision skill-shot. The Jade Rabbit is relatively easy for most casual players to use. However, in the hands of a skilled guardian, this weapon is one of Destiny 2's most lethal in both PvE and PvP.

All Jade Rabbit locations on the Moon in Destiny 2

There are several Jade Rabbit statues hidden around the Moon in Destiny 2. These little, evil, demonic-looking bunnies reward players with valuable resources, if you’ve got the right stuff. Finding all of them, and offering a tasty treat, will no doubt result in earning an emblem. So let’s get to finding all the Jade Rabbit statues!

Jade Rabbit locations – Moon

Jade Rabbits can be found all over the Moon in Destiny 2. There are about 10 to find, and they’re often tucked away in hard-to-reach places. You will need to have a small rice cake in your inventory to be able to interact with one. Without a tasty treat, the rabbit will simply say, “You lack something.” While it is currently unknown what the reward is for interacting with all the Jade Rabbits, chances are it's another emblem. If this isn't the case, we'll be sure to update this guide once the reward is discovered.

Jade Rabbit 1 – Sanctuary

The first Jade Rabbit can be found directly below the spawning platform at Sanctuary. Use the ramp to gain access to the building and search the back to find a Jade Rabbit emblem on the wall with the bunny on the ground. This one doesn't seem to be active and is likely the final Jade Rabbit you need to interact with.

Jade Rabbit 2 – Archer’s Line

The second Jade Rabbit can be found at Archer’s Line in the dome building. Go inside the building and search the side room, the bunny is at the back behind some terminals.

Jade Rabbit 3 – K1 Logistics

Fight through the K1 Logistics Lost Sector on the Moon and when you reach the loot chest at the end, search the building behind it. The Jade Rabbit is sitting on a pedestal with a cat.

Jade Rabbit 4 – Anchor of Light

Another Jade Rabbit is found in the Anchor of Light, on the left-hand side of the area. Find the large building with the antennae and radio tower at the top and use the surrounding structure to climb it. At the top is the bunny near a computer terminal.

Jade Rabbit 5 – Hellmouth

This Jade Rabbit is found near the Hellmouth. Find the large platform overlooking the Hellmouth, and then head up the hill, following the fissure in the ground. You’ll find the bunny on a chair near a purple tarp.

Jade Rabbit 6 – Sorrow’s Harbor

To find this Jade Rabbit, head to the main bridge in Sorrow’s Harbor. When looking at the Scarlet Keep, head up the stairs and turn left to spy some Hive boxes leaning up against a fortification. The rabbit is tucked between the boxes.

Jade Rabbit 7 – K1 Revelation

This Jade Rabbit can only be unlocked after completing the Shadowkeep campaign and starting the Memory of Sai Mota quest, as it allows you to unlock a room in the back of the Lost Sector.

Jade Rabbit 8 – Circle of Bones

The Jade Rabbit in the Circle of Bones is quite difficult to find. It is located below one of the platforms that runs along the perimeter of the area. Stand on the platform looking out through the center arena toward the Hellmouth. Drop down to the ground and turn hard right. Run under the balcony to find the rabbit tucked in the corner behind a box.

Jade Rabbit 9 – Chamber of Night

This Jade Rabbit is hidden way below the Hellmouth in the Chamber of Night. Make sure you know how to get to the Chamber of Night, else you’re likely to get lost. The bunny is on top of a big rock just past the pitch black corridor.

Jade Rabbit 10 – Shrine of Oryx

Another Jade Rabbit is found in the Shrine of Oryx. Much like some previous bunnies, this rabbit is deep below the Hellmouth. Make your way to the Shrine of Oryx and as you pass through the circular tunnel, go left toward the edge, the rabbit is overlooking the deep chasm.

After finding all the Jade Rabbits on the Moon in Destiny 2, you will likely receive an emblem, though the exact reward is yet to be confirmed. You receive an emblem for feeding all the Dreaming City cats, so it only makes sense you'll get one for doing the same thing to the rabbits. Destiny 2 Xur update: should you buy the Jade Rabbit?

You must find the Jade Rabbit by the next full moon.

The Jade Rabbit is one of the Exotic Scout Rifles in Destiny 2, and Xur is selling it this week.

This week's Xur weapon pick in Destiny 2, the Jade Rabbit, will be familiar to veteran players on PlayStation.

Reason being: it was a Exotic weapon in Destiny 1: The Taken King, and a timed exclusive for the console. Xbox One users were finally able to get their hands on the weapon, and the rest of the content back in October.

This time out, the lovely Scout Rifle is Kinetic based and like in Destiny 1, chain body shots return. This rewards the player with increased damage on their next precision shot as well as a partial reload. This is accomplished thanks to the Intrinsic Perk, The Fate of All Fools.

The Polygonal Rifling optimized the barrel for recoil reduction, which helps increase stability as does the Legendary Trait Zen Moment. This trait provides added stability when the player causes damage with the weapon.

Armor-Piercing rounds used in the weapon cause extra damage to combatants' shields and over penetrate targets. This also increases range slightly.

In short, the Jade Rabbit has slightly above average impact and reload speed, a really nice range. However, it's rather low on the handling and stability scale.

The thing about the Jade Rabbit in Destiny 2 from what I've gathered online, many players aren't too keen on it in PvP. Apparently, it was a much better weapon in Destiny 1 stability-wise. Some say it works just fine for PvE though.

That said, in the end it's your decision on whether to buy it or not. Like with anything else, just do a bit of research first before handing Xur 29 Legendary Shards.

Destiny 2: What The Jade Rabbit Catalyst Does & How To Find It

The Jade Rabbit holds a unique niche in Destiny 2. It’s a very handy opening weapon when fighting other players in Crucible. If the player can get the jump on someone else it’s not that difficult to quickly put them down in a handful of shots thanks to The Jade Rabbit’s perks. Of course, that’s only if the player is the one starting the fight.

RELATED: Destiny 2: How To Get Mod Components (2021)

The Jade Rabbit Catalyst improves the weapon’s abilities a little, but some players may find the changes a bit lackluster. Especially considering the work needed to find and obtain The Jade Rabbit Catalyst.

What The Jade Rabbit Catalyst Does

The Jade Rabbit Catalyst offers a single benefit to the scout rifle:

  • Increase weapon stability by 27

A 27 boost to stability is nothing to shake a fist at. Especially when it synergizes well with The Fate of All Fools. The Fate of All Fools allows the player to chain body shots for boosted damage on a follow up precision shot. Getting that precision shot is important in terms of DPS and a handy refund of ammo to the magazine. Having additional stability is definitely helpful for achieving this.

How To Find The Jade Rabbit Catalyst

The Jade Rabbit Catalyst is a random drop that occurs whenever the player defeats a Guardian in Crucible matches. There doesn’t seem to be a way to improve the odds of The Jade Rabbit Catalyst dropping. It’s also not necessary to win a Crucible match to get the drop.

RELATED: Destiny 2: What The Hard Light Catalyst Does & How To Find It

Any Guardian found in any Crucible match has a chance of dropping. Clash matches are a solid way to farm for Guardian kills as players tend to take more risks as the timer runs low. Anything that nets lots of Guardian kills is best.

Upgrading The Jade Rabbit Catalyst

Once players obtain The Jade Rabbit Catalyst they can further augment its usefulness by upgrading it. To upgrade The Jade Rabbit Catalyst players will need to defeat 250 Guardian in Crucible with The Jade Rabbit.

The Jade Rabbit is suited for midrange ambush-style combat. Clash and sometimes Control modes on smaller maps are a great way to achieve this. Having the right team can also help the player get more Guardian kills. It’s also important to remember these kills can be obtained retroactively, meaning kills achieved prior to getting The Jade Rabbit Catalyst will count towards the 250 once it’s obtained.

Tips For Using The Jade Rabbit Catalyst

As with any Catalyst farming, it’s always a good idea to synergize different goals to save time. There are many Catalyst that are obtained via Guardian kills in Crucible, such as the Graviton Lance Catalyst. Players can be working on upgrading The Jade Rabbit Catalyst while simultaneously chasing down the Graviton Lance Catalyst.

It’s strongly recommended to find a solid team when diving into Crucible modes for Catalyst farming purposes. It’ll also come in handy when grinding for 250 kills later. Players should also make note of what seasonal goals are tied to Crucible and chase those down as well.
