King Pine Ski Area in New Hampshire & Escape2ski provides info on; vertical drop 350ft/107m, total trails 17, closest airport 50mi/81km, lifts 5, and more.

King Pine Ski Area is located in Madison NH and was developed by the Hoyt Family who had a long history of operating a successful summer resort business and saw the need to bring winter recreation to the area.

The ski area opened in Dec 1962, with just a double chairlift, three trails, and an open slope area. The ski business was a natural complement to the Purity Spring Resort, as it provided accommodations for destination travellers from outside the local area in both the winter and summer.

King Pine Ski Area is located along a quiet stretch of Eaton Rd, across from Purity Lake. After enjoying success in the early years, the ski area in expanded in 1968 by adding much needed advanced to expert terrain on the North Side, including Pine Brule the ski area’s only double black run.

To combat the times when Mother Nature isn’t so generous providing snow to cover the slopes, the ski area added snowmaking equipment in the mid-1970’s to ensure the trails are always coated in white.

Over the years King Pine Ski Area continues to find ways to accommodate families, including adding night skiing during the 1982-1983 season on eight trails from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, on select nights. Today, King Pine Ski Area has grown into a ski area with an authentic charm that’s hard to find in larger ski areas.
