    Question:Q:AirPods Pro Case Lid Loose

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

    Question:Q:

I purchased my AirPods Pro few days ago and noticed that the lid it can shift left and right along the hinge and kind of creaks if you do it. Not sure if it’s a defect on my unit or just the build quality.

I already changed mine once at the Apple store and the new pair has the same issue.

People who have bought the AirPods Pro, do you have the same problem?

    Answer:A:

I have the same issue. Lid is moving right and left and hinge is giving strange creaking sound. This shouldn't be the case for the product in this price tag. I raised it to that Apple and got the case replaced but the second one has the same behavior. Looks like the first series were produced in hurry and quality control closed their eye to this. Disappointed from the quality presented by Apple nowadays.

I hope Apple will fix this issue

    Hello,

I just checked mine, and it seems to do the same thing.

It works fine and I'm not at all worried.

    Good luck.

Mine does same. Seems like they all do as using single hinge to open and close

mine does the same, it moves left and right just a little. Glad I’m not the only one. I got Apple care. If it ends up getting really bad I’ll replace them.

I went to the local Apple Store and all their demo models have loose lids as well. Guess its common and Apple doesn't seem to care at this point. Hopefully, riding around in my pocket for a couple of years, at least, doesn't make it an issue!

I went to the Apple store. I have Apple care too and they said that the loose lid is considered an aesthetic damage. That mean is not covered by Apple care.

I think your plan won’t work.

I don't think it is intentional it is just crappy batch they released. We shouldn't accept this and agree it is normal. This is premium product and all efforts should be taken to release it manufactured with the highest standards. I already replaced my unit but received another with same defect. Maybe in couple of weeks other batches will have better quality but for now there is not much we can do than wait and try to get it replaced in some time.

One of the biggest benefits of buying Apple’s AirPods is that you do not have to connect the earbuds right into the wall to charge. Instead, using its handy carrying case, not only can you keep yourself from losing them, but they charge while stored inside, too. But what if the accompanying case won’t close properly?

If your AirPod case won’t close, this is typically because something is stopping the magnets from connecting. This could be anything from dog hair to small particles of dust. If your case doesn’t close, you can use compressed air to blow away any debris.

There could be other reasons why your AirPod case won’t close. If it was dropped from a significant height or the magnets do not match up, these issues could also prevent the case from closing, as well. Read on to learn more about fixing your AirPod case and what options you have if you cannot remedy the issue.

Why Won’t My AirPod Case Close?

Here, you can read about some possible reasons why your AirPod case won’t close and what you can do to address the issue.

    Dust on the Connective Magnets

For the AirPod case to close (and charge your devices), there cannot be any dust particles on the connective magnets. Apple says that even the smallest speck of dust, dirt, or hair can protect the case from closing all the way.

Earlier, we mentioned that compressed air could clear away any debris––even particles that are not visible to the naked eye. A perfect tool for this would be the Dust-Off Disposable Compressed Gas Duster. This product takes the same air we breathe and puts it under intense pressure.

Check for Obstructions in the AirPod Ports

When you open your AirPod case, you will see two slots in which you insert your AirPods. You should be able to insert your AirPods with absolutely no problems. If you have to force or finagle the AirPods inside, this could be a sign of a larger issue.

You have a few options when clearing out any obstructions that prevent your AirPods from going in all of the way, some of which include:

    • Using compressed air: In addition to cleaning your AirPod case’s magnetic strip, compressed air can also be used to dislodge things. For instance, if there is hair stuck inside the ports, compressed air can dislocate unwanted bits and pieces.
    • Using tweezers: Shine a light inside the case’s ports. See if anything like hair, cotton, or tissue has gotten stuck inside. Then, very delicately, use a pair of tweezers to get it out.
    • Using a Q-tip: You insert your AirPods into its ports with the rod facing down. However, for whatever reason, earwax might have gotten inside the port. This is not an issue; simply use a Q-tip (do not get it wet) and swirl it around the port. This will clean away anything the prevents the AirPods from going in all the way.

If your AirPods are not secure inside their ports, you will have difficulty closing their charging case.

    Consider Your Usage

Although Apple guarantees all of its products, they are not designed to withstand rough use. If your AirPod case fell from a significant height, was stepped on, or otherwise not treated with care, there could be a physical problem that prevents it from closing.

If your AirPod case has not withstood extensive use over time, you can buy a replacement AirPod charging case. When choosing a replacement, you will need to make sure that your new case matches the AirPods generation you currently own.

    Contact Apple Customer Support

If you have tried to fix your AirPod case to no avail, you can always contact Apple’s customer support team. You can learn more about troubleshooting your device by:

    • Calling them at ()
    • Visiting an Apple store in person
    • Searching for a solution on Apple’s Support Communities

You can also click here and submit a query online.

If your AirPod case does not close, your AirPods won’t charge, or another defect impedes your satisfaction, Apple gives all of its products a one-year limited warranty.

This warranty does not cover products that have been damaged due to normal wear-and-tear. However, if you lose your AirPods’ case or need a replacement, Apple will send you a new charging case for a nominal fee.

    In Summary

When it comes to fixing an AirPod case that will not close, the solution will ultimately depend on your problem. While AirPods are sweat and splash-resistant, they must be handled with care. As previously noted, the magnetic connections and the charging ports must be clear of any debris to work optimally.

Apple acknowledges AirPods Pro issues, will replace those that crackle and rattle

Are your AirPods Pro earbuds making weird noises? You&#;re not imagining it — and you&#;re not the only one.

Just a few months after Apple started shipping AirPods Pro, some users started noticing that one or both of their earbuds were rattling or crackling. The noises would reportedly get worse whenever the user moved, and would sometimes only develop after months of use.

Apple didn&#;t say too much about it at first, but would usually replace crackling earbuds if you took the time to hit up support. A few folks here at TechCrunch have had the rattle rear its head on our own AirPods Pro buds&#; only to have it pop up again in the replacements.

It seems the problem has become widespread enough for an official acknowledgement: today Apple launched an &#;AirPods Pro Service Program&#; (as first pointed out by Mark Gurman) specifically for swapping out crackling buds.

A newly published support page outlines the potential symptoms, both of which suggest the issue has to do with the noise cancellation system:

    • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
    • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

Apple notes that only units made before October are affected, suggesting they&#;ve fixed the issue in units now coming off the line. The support page repeatedly says faulty units will be &#;replaced&#; rather than &#;repaired&#; — so for the most part, it sounds like turnaround should be pretty quick.

out of 5 starsGoldilocks and the AirPods Pro Case - Just not right

Reviewed in the United States on December 29,

I was really looking forward to this case since phone’s Spigen case has been my favorite for years, but this case just did not meet my expectations, and had me worrying that I would break my new AirPods in the process.

    The positives?

    1. The case is aesthetically pleasing, and while I would have preferred a less dusty pink, it’s fine for someone seeking a pink case.

    2. The case is hard enough to protect your AirPods and you’re unlikely to lose the top half since the entire case is one piece.

    3. The AirPods “pop out” when you open the case. This was a huge help when trying to remove them, despite everything else going wrong.

    4. You can open the AirPods easily due to the design of the case.

    5. Spigen’s customer service. I haven’t tried it out with this case, but they’re usually reliable.

    Now the negatives:

    1. The fit is beyond frustrating.

I received the case on a cold day, and immediately tried it on my AirPods. The top half would flip off every time I opened the AirPods, and since there was no suction, the AirPods easily slid out of the case.

Now, trying the case at room temperature - there was suction/a tighter fit, but too much of one. Since the hinge is covered, you can’t hold down the lid of the AirPods while trying to remove the top of the case. I somehow managed to find a sweet spot to remove the case (twice), but risked breaking the hinge of my AirPods Wireless Case both times, or scratching them.

    2. You can’t access the setup button on the back with the case on.

If you plan on staying in a moderate climate and barely ever using the setup button, these might be good for you. But if you plan on connecting your AirPods to multiple devices, then these are not a good idea. The only way to reach the button is to take the AirPods out, and I’ve already disclosed the problem with that.

    3. The case keeps shutting closed because of the hinge, so you have to keep it open with force.

    4. The fabric meant for the hinge already has loose threads. I don’t want to imagine what that means for frequent usage.

    5. The lightning port is not covered. That might be a plus for some, but a negative for me.

    6. Considering all of these problems, their $ price is just not worth it.

If Spigen somehow releases an updated version of these, I would be interested in checking them out because of how much their phone case has saved my phone. But this phone is just too loose, too tight, and just not right.
