Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park

Mon to Sun: am – pm
The only question you’re going to have at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is “When can I move in?” For real though, once you set your eyes on the trails, the lake, and most of all that insanely gorgeous forest, you are not going to want to leave. Travel on foot (or horse if you’ve got it) through the trail. Breathe in the fresh air and witness nature at its most magical. Rent a kayak or pedal boat for a turn on the lake, or jump right in sans boat! For a more “appreciate nature, not roll around in it” tee off at the golf course or play basketball and tennis (or maybe a weird hybrid?) at the courts. Good with a camera? Come for the Photography Weekend and enter the contest for best picture of the park. It’s time to give yourself the vacation you deserve!

  • Phenomenal place! Extremely clean, beyond nice, wonderful location, awesome staff around, and perfect for all ages and groups! Went out here with my wife, in-laws, and closest friends. We will definitely be back for sure! Beyond memorable and exciting!

  • We had a great time camping out all week! It would have been nice if the beach part had a full shower in it though. Other than that it was awesome! We were camping right by the kids play area and they were able to just go out and play on the equipment: I didn&#;t see any problems with the equipment as everything was in working order. The bathrooms were kept up really nice at the campground and if anybody had a problem we could just call and they would fix it.

  • Beach was packed and had to be closed one day bc of something truly nasty in the water. Such a pretty place tho and the horse sites are awesome. Love the full hookups. The view from the lodge is awesome too. Pool looked nice. They should let campers use it too. Need to charge for beach access or something. Just too crowded. Restaurant at lodge was good but was a bit warm in the lodge area.

  • We thought the lake was nice but we have nicer lakes by our house in TN. They use dye to color the lake, it&#;s a small lake not huge we rented a 30 year old paddle boat and that was ok prices were very very high for a old dirty paddle boat that squeaked. We found the lodge employees at the front desk extremely rude, we wanted to maybe come back and stay for our anniversary but we won&#;t be back, and we are both covered in chiggers from the park trail. Rough River State Park was beautiful and much cheaper if your looking for a nice park in Kentucky, Pennyrile is not.

  • We visited the beach and had a great time. Make sure you bring an easy up (sun shade) and coolers. The hill getting down to the water is a bit steep but manageable. Be sure to arrive early enough to get your choice of spot near the water.

Since we live near Kentucky Lake, we do not necessarily consider it a vacation destination.  Living in this area is like always being on vacation!  When we do leave town, our two favorite places to visit are the Smoky Mountains and the beaches of the Gulf Coast.

But we recently discovered a place that is a microcosm of both of our favorite vacation spots to relax &#; Pennyrile Forest State Park near Dawson Springs, Ky.

This state park, no doubt a hidden gem, features beautiful forests among sandstone cliffs, a small, yet clean sandy beach at Pennyrile Lake, and even a foot waterfall spilling over rock outcroppings.  The small park does remind me of both the beach and the mountains.

    The Trails

Our visit to Pennyrile Forest State Park featured two short hikes.  The first hike, the Clifty Creek Trail, featured a quarter-mile path across the dam and the creek downstream.  Some of the sandstone rocks stick out over the creek bed here, creating a beautiful landscape along the trail.

The dam was constructed in by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) workers as part of the recovery efforts from the Great Depression. The dam, which creates the small Pennyrile Lake, can be walked across and provides some interesting photo opportunities.  Maybe even a selfie or two!

If you’re planning to visit Pennyrile, you have to check out the short Indian Bluff Trail.  It is a relatively easy, quarter-mile trail that features many sandstone bluffs which early Native Americans used for shelter.  In fact, as many as persons as recently as the early s used these natural shelters as their home.

Also on the trail is the park’s largest natural arch known as “Indian Willow”.  Although not as large as Mantle Rock in nearby Livingston County, it is still impressive – and photos never quite do the natural wonder justice.

    The Waterfall

The popular Lake Trail features a 10 to foot waterfall right near the trailhead, which is located at the beach. This small waterfall and the sandstone rocks around it really does remind you of something from the Smokies.  The geology might be different, but the result is quite similar.

The waterfall does not have a name that we are aware of and is not mentioned on the park’s brochure, but it is quite easy to get to and requires little effort to access.  You can even the let the cold water spill over you if you’re brave enough!

    The Beach & Lake

Based on our visit to Pennyrile, I would say the beach is the most popular attraction at the state park.  It is free and open to the public and features clean sand with a very gentle slope to the water.  Pennyrile Lake&#;s swimming area is roped off for safety and is perfect for kids to enjoy. The beach is usually open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  However, effective July 1, , the beach will be closed to non-overnight guests on the weekends.  The beach will remain open to everyone on weekdays.

Pennyrile Lake also has paddle boat, canoe and kayak rentals.  You can even rent a small fishing boat with a trolling motor.  The boats are quite affordable, so we decided to rent a kayak and a canoe with our boys – the first time we’d ever done something like that.  Needless to say &#; it was a blast.

Other Facilities at Pennyrille Forest State Park

The park has lodge rooms, cabin rentals, a campground and a nice restaurant for guests to enjoy.  We had lunch there, but due to COVID, the menu was quite reduced.  Regardless of the limited selections, the food was great.  We had burgers and buffalo chicken fingers that were quite tasty.

Overnight guests can also enjoy the outdoor swimming pool.  Basketball and tennis courts are also on site as well as a mini-golf course.  Speaking of the links – serious golfers can enjoy the hole golf course, too.

If you’re looking for a quick day trip like what we did, or even a nice, relaxing overnight stay, Pennyrile Forest State Park can provide a beautiful setting for you and your family to enjoy.

      Trip to Pennyrile Forest (June 28 \u0026 29, 2016)

NOT in the sense that I'm lucky that I'm having sex with them, no, but I'm not doing quite what I need. After all, no one really knows, and especially young girls, how a gynecological examination should be carried out. It was about 7 pm when the girl came to the reception. So I looked at her profile. Marina means.

      Now discussing:

I made a few slow, light movements, feeling how comfortable my lascivious friend was and how good it should now be with him. Then I moved on to more energetic. Jerks, in response to which you began to shake your whole body, and hoarse exhalations began to break out of your being.
