Barnes' Notes on the Bible
There shall no evil befall thee - The Chaldee Paraphrase has, “The Lord of the world answered and said, ‹There shall no evil befall thee,‘” etc. The sentiment, however, is that the psalmist could assure such an one, from his own personal experience, that he would be safe. He had himself made Yahweh his refuge, and he could speak with confidence of the safety of doing so. This, of course, is to be understood as a general truth, in accordance with what has been said above.
Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling - On the word rendered “plague” here nega - see Psalm , note; Psalm , note. It is not the same word which is used in Psalm , and translated “pestilence;” and it does not refer to what is technically called the “plague.” It may denote anything that would be expressive of the divine displeasure, or that would be sent as a punishment. The word rendered “dwelling” here means a tent; and the idea is, that no such mark of displeasure would abide with him, or enter his tent as its home. Of course, this also must be understood as a general promise, or as meaning that religion would constitute a general ground of security.

Psalms -11 NKJV
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus precious and matchless name !
Charles Spurgeon considered Psalm 91 to be the most cheering psalm in the whole collection. For it speaks of the assurance of Gods divine protection. Also, the subject verses cheers us by saying, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. Is it not good to hear such comforting words ?
Even more, the verse just ahead the subject verses tells us why no evil shall befall on us. When we make the God Almighty as our refuge and our dwelling place, then no evil shall befall on us. Very importantly, if the Living God is our dwelling place, can any plague come nearer to us ? How blessed are those who are protected in such a manner ?
And coming to the second part of the subject verses, we have Gods angels to protect us from the dark and evil forces of the Satan. In our physical, we might not be seeing any battle around us. But in the spiritual realm, the battle between the good and bad continues to exist. Moreover, from the subject verse, we could make out that God has set His angel(s) for us. And they continually fight the satan or satans associates. As the following verse says, the angel of the Lord encamps around all those who fear the God.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Psalm ESV
Brethren, not only we have Gods divine protection, but also the manifestation of His power of deliverance from the troubles. The all-sovereign God does not break His promises, but ensures that they are fulfilled in us. Therefore brethren, let us set ourselves free from the worldly things and put trust in the Lord our God. In Jesus precious name may all be done for the glory of the Living God.
Amen.
