For kids, however, we give them glow-in-the-dark bracelets and necklaces so we can see that there are children in the group and we go easier. We also communicate that there are kids in a certain group to the cast members before the group enters the house so we will all know to go easy.

What’s the history of your haunted attraction and how did you get started haunting?
Mike Newman, the owner, came here from Florida in Over the years the house has grown into a monster, so to speak, and each year the show, the paths, the cast, the crew changes into something completely different than the previous years. Theres a constant state of disorientation and fear while walking through the house. Every turn, nook, corner, and cranny has a scare, a visual effect, or some sort of frightening event taking place. Never a dull moment.
What’s the parking situation? Is it lot/street and fee/meter/free? Is the haunted house accessible by public transportation?
We have multiple parking lots. One near the entrance and others across the street. All parking is free.
What nearby restaurants would you recommend for great food, families, and dates? And what do you suggest our readers do after your haunted house? Is there another haunted house nearby that you would recommend or some other form of after attraction entertainment?
We are located right near Uptown Greenwood which offers a variety of Bars, Restaurants, and Shopping for people to choose from. The closest haunted
house from us is an Hour trip north to Greenville or a 2 hour trip East to Columbia.

PICS: Is Uptown Greenwood haunted?
GREENWOOD, SC (Index-Journal) Some things might just go bump in the night. Or even in the middle of the day.
Many stores in Uptown Greenwood have experienced their own little bumps. Many people already know about Bill, the defective ghost (he cant walk through a door like other ghosts apparently can) that haunts the Fox and Hound bar at Inn on the Square, but there seem to be other ghosts coming forward in other Uptown locations.
Melissia Ford, owner of Allura Bella Boutique, potentially witnessed her own ghostly haunting shortly after opening the boutique.
I dont feel any negative energy, but there was definitely something here, Ford said.
About two weeks after opening, Ford locked up for the weekend.
When I reopened the next week, there was a purse lying on the floor.
The owner said she always made sure everything was put away before she closed.
Confused, she decided to take a look over the surveillance footage to be sure she hadnt missed something.
I looked back through the footage for Friday and the purse was up on the shelf like I thought, she said.
She was able to spot the exact time the purse managed to fly off the shelf she had left it on before closing.
At , you can see the purse jump off the shelf, she said.
In the video, the tiny blue purse appeared to be forced off the shelf with some momentum. There was no one present in the surveillance video.
She has since shared the surveillance video with friends, who were equally startled.
Nothing else has really happened since then, she said.
Ford is not the only business owner in Uptown Greenwood to report ghostly occurrences. Owners of Flynns on Maxwell has a couple of their own stories.
One eerie incident caused their security alarm to go off long after the store was closed. When they looked back over the footage, there was no one to be seen.
When we looked back at the video, there were little things floating by the camera, Debbie Flynn said. It could have just been dust. Some people say it was orbs.
We also put up two mirrors to bring light to the darkest corner of the store where people said they felt the most negative energy.
Many people who believe in spiritual beings believe that orbs are evidence of spirits being made visible on camera.
That might not be the strangest thing to have happened at their store.
The Flynns keep their Christmas wreath upstairs when it is not on display during the holidays. Flynn said they havent turned it on since they stored it after the Christmas holiday.
We havent plugged it in or anything, she said. I went upstairs one day and the wreath was on and the lights were blinking.
Regardless of the two events, she said she did not feel negative energy at the store.
Before the business owners at Allura Bella Boutique and Flynns on Maxwell experienced their possible hauntings, Chip Turner, who previously owned H.H. Turner Jewelers, recalled strange activity from when his business was in the building currently occupied by Caffe
The biggest event occurred during business hours with two other employees present.
We used to have a big, walk-in safe right there toward the back. It was brick with a metal door, said one of the employees, who asked not to be named. The door had a very significant sound to it when it opened. When you heard it, you knew someone was in the safe.
Turner and his employees were chatting toward the front door of the business. He and one of his employees jerked their heads toward the safe when they heard it being opened.
It was a very distinct sound. We both whipped around, but the safe door was closed. We know we both heard it, the employee said.
They both said the door remained closed and that no one was in the safe, but to this day they contend they heard the door being opened.
Turner also said he would stay late and work some nights. He said sometimes he would hear someone walking up and down the steps in the neighboring building, the one that currently houses H.H. Turner.
Prior to Caffe opening at the former Turner location, owner Kenn Wiltshire said many people would stop in and warn him about that building. Heeding those warnings and at the suggestion of other friends, Wiltshire had someone cleanse the building with sage.
Many who believe in the supernatural believe that saging helps remove negative energy from a building.
Ive not seen anything, but we cleansed the place, Wiltshire said. We also put up two mirrors to bring light to the darkest corner of the store where people said they felt the most negative energy.
Its also been said there might be a spirit walking amongst the furniture and fine gifts at Thayers.
We sometimes find pillows on the floor that should be on the couch or things moved on the shelves, said Taylor Tucker, manager at Thayers Furniture and Fine Gifts.
While moving merchandise might seem eerie, Tucker told a story that might be even creepier.
At the back of the store, there are shelves that hold extra merchandise. The highest shelf is a little more than six feet off the ground.
We had some crystal glasses sitting on the top shelf, Tucker said. We came in one morning and there was one laying on the ground.
While that sounds pretty uneventful, the crystal glass should have broken had it fallen from that height.
Its like someone picked it up off the shelf and placed it on the ground, Tucker said.
She said the glass was not only unbroken, but also had no cracks or chips anywhere.
It is like they want you to know theyre here, she said. Some people think the spirits might be guardians of the Uptown.READ ORIGINAL STORY ON INDEX-JOURNAL
