~ Quinella renaming herself as Administrator

Quinella, also self-proclaimed as the&#;Administrator, is a major antagonist in Sword Art Online&#;series, serving as the main antagonist in the first half of&#;Alicization Arc. She is the self-proclaimed Administrator of Underworld and high minister of Axiom Church. She is responsible for corrupting the government from behind the scenes, disposing those who oppose her.

She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, who is also notable for her various roles as Ciel Phantomhive, Crona,&#;Rikako Oryou,&#;Eto Yoshimura, Agria, Akito Sohma and&#;Jeanne Alter in the Japanese version and Maureen Price in the English version.

Personality

Quinella is an above all sadistic, callous&#;and narcissistic tyrant&#;who is not above killing, torturing, and brainwashing anyone to keep Underworld for herself.

Fear of losing her own power and lifespan, Quinella takes control over&#;the entire Human Empire of Underworld as its ruler to keep herself in charge. She spends most of her time asleep in order to preserve precious memory space, but the laws she placed over the land and its people might as well be God-given edicts to follow consciously or subconsciously given her Cardinal Authority and are enforced by her Integrity Knights. In the backstory, while she fused with the Cardinal System to regulate UW, her original intention was to outright steal its powers and authority for herself.

While she claims that turning the people of Underworld (including her Knights) into sword golems is for their own safety, as well as fighting for their own loved ones, it is clear by her actions that she is nothing but a narcissistic control freak who's no better than any of the other psychos Kirito has faced, like&#;Nobuyuki Sugou or Laughing Coffin.

Being a narcissistic sociopath and a selfish woman, Quinella only wants to control everything in her reach, killing and torturing anyone who dares to challenge her or "her" empire, which is full of so much of decadance that both Kirito and Cardinal believed that the Underworld would be better if it was destroyed instead of being oppressed under Quinella's iron fist.

History

Past

years before Kirito entered the Underworld, Quinella was born after a proposed political marriage between two of the families that&#;took charge of the Underworld, one of them bore malice and desire. Spending her childhood under her dark family education, Quinella&#;was given the sacred task of studying the Sacred Arts. Soon, she learned that by killing others, one's stats could be raised, so every night she snuck out and killed the animals of the forest, which would respawn everyday anyway. She raised her stats to a ridiculously high level and decided to take control over the Underworld.

Fooling people into believing she was a goddess, Quinella created the Axiom Church and became the supreme ruler of the Underworld,&#;making&#;laws to control the people. She studied the Sacred Arts intensely, trying to find a way to transcend the limit of that world, the «Life» of that world.

Years had passed and Quinella gradually fell old and frail due to her age. Refused to succubb to death, Quinella dound the System Control Authority command on the brink of death and immediately uses it to heal herself, restoring her beauty and «Life» to her former appearance as a youth. After restoring her youth, Quinella rechristened herself as "Administator" and self-proclaimed to be the representive of the Underworld's supreme authority.&#;

At the end of a gruelling battle with Alice, Eugeo, and Kirito, Quinella suffered fatal injuries, and thus decided to preserve herself by leaving to the real world earlier than planned. With awkward steps, she reached the hidden console for communicating with the real world. After Quinella operated the keyboard to begin the procedure, a pillar of light appeared from beneath her feet and her body began rising. Just as she was about to finish her farewell to Kirito, she was shocked by the sudden intervention of&#;Chudelkin, who set his body ablaze to reach her. With Quinella embraced by Chudelkin, the two were soon engulfed by the flame and perished.

Trivia

  • Quinella is the first female main antagonist from Sword Art Online&#;series, and the first who is originated from a virtual world instead of the real world.&#;She is also the first main villain in&#;the&#;Sword Art Online light novel series who had her backstory told in great detail.
  • Quinella serves as an evil counterpart to Alice. Like Quinella, Alice was very talented in the Sacred Arts. One of Alice's most well-known abilities was to predict a storm one week in advance at a rather young age, while Quinella was also able to predict the weather just three days in advance.
    • A notable difference between Alice and Quinella is their parentage. Quinella was born in a noble family in the capital. In contrast, Alice was born in a family of villagers in one of the most remote villages in the Human Empire. However, it's implied that, had Eugeo and Kirito never met her, Alice might have walked down a similar path to Quinella.
  • When Bercouli dies, it can be seen that his "spirit" meets "Quinella's", and it can be seen here that Quinella became more benevolent compared to how she was, thus suggesting that she has redeemed herself. However, it is very possible that it isn't her actual spirit, since considering that Bercouli still had the Fluctlight and he was on his deathbed when he had that encounter with Quinella, it is actually possible that they were his last thoughts. Besides, something that supports this is that the supposed spirit of Quinella itself mentions being the version that Bercouli has in his memories of her, so it may not be the true spirit of Quinella.
    • Although, when Kirito was in his final fights in War of Underworld, Quinella can be seen cheering for Kirito, it is unclear if this can support that it's indeed her spirit that met Bercouli or actually if it was her spirit that encouraged Kirito but it had nothing to do with the aforementioned fact.

The 10 Most Confusing Things About The Sword Art Online Anime, Finally Explained

The Sword Art Onlineseries is one of the most recognizable franchises in media. It helped revolutionize the isekai genre and make fans believe a VRMMORPG like Sword Art Online can be brought to life and conceptualized one day. Despite VR becoming more popular, there still hasn't been one created to the scale of it.

RELATED: Sword Art Online: 10 Differences Between The Anime & Light Novel

Despite how detailed the world Reki Kawahara created was, however, there are bound to be things that don't make sense in this science fiction series. From why various parts of it were controversial to characters' actions and scientific terms, here are 10 things mentioned in the Sword Art Online series, explained.

10 What Happened To Akihiko Kayaba?

One of the most confusing things about the first Sword Art Online's main antagonist lies in the character himself, Akihiko Kayabaーotherwise known as Heathcliff of the Knights of the Blood Oath. While his intentions of trapping thousands of people within the VRMMORPG were unclear, one thing was clear at the end of the animeーhe was dead. He had fried his brain.

However, he made a resurgence in Sword Art Online: Alicization in the form of an android. Or more commonly accepted, he had put his memory logs within the android and aided Kirito and the othersーas well as ultimately sacrifice himselfーto aid them. While this obviously doesn't lessen the wrongdoings he has done, it was an interesting way to see the character once again.

9 Does The World Seed Matter Anymore?

The World Seed is a very controversial topic, both within Sword Art Online and the VRMMORPG. The World Seed is an item in that it holds a program called The Seed, which is free-to-use and utilized to create a VR world. Akihiko created it, and all of the games utilize it and is based on this very item.

RELATED: Sword Art Online: All Arcs In The Anime, Ranked

The simple answer is yes, The Seed remains an important item to Sword Art Online, as it was stated that all games in the series are based upon The World Seed. This means that all of the games from Sword Art Online, Gun Gale Online, and even Project Alicization are all based upon The World Seed.

8 How Did Alice Become An Android?

Alice was originally a characterーor more well-known as a Fluctlightーwithin Project Alicization, as she was also who it was first conceptualized by, along with Eugeo. Although the original Alice who became an androidーand the only one from Project Alicization to do soーis not the original one who went off with Eugeo after he died, the one who became an android was Alice Synthesis Thirty.

After Sword Art Online:War of Underworld Part 2, Alice was transferred from Project Alicization and into a highly-advanced android body that can reside in the real world.

7 What Did Quinella Wish To Accomplish?

Quinella'sーotherwise known as Administratorーideals can be lost within everything that occurred in Sword Art Online: Alicization, which is understandable as many things happened during the long-last arc. As the highest member of the Axiom Church, she was a dangerous antagonist.

RELATED: Sword Art Online: Kirito Vs. Asuna ー Who Would Win?

Basically, Quinella thirsted for immense powerーso much so that she made herself live longer than others and discovered new Sacred Arts unknown to anyone else. Doing this, she deceived others into thinking the gods gifted her, and she was the "chosen one" they should listen to and follow. She wished to have ultimate power and go to the real world and overrule it, too.

6 How Did Eugeo DieーAnd Is He Really Dead?

Eugeo died after the final battle against Quinella, where he turned himself into a sword and cut her arm off. After wounding her, she broke himーand he split in two, only to bleed out and say farewell to Kirito.

Although fans loved him, it is. Unfortunately true, Eugeo made a sacrifice for the greater good and paid for it with his life. However, he did make an appearance in Sword Art Online: War of Underworld Part 2, where he showed up in spirit form and helped Kirito awaken from his coma.

5 Why Are There So Many Sexual Assault Scenes?

Although the assault against Asuna proved to be the first breaking point in Sword Art Online, as did Sinon's best friend, who turned out to be a creep, it reached its breaking point with a scene that included Tiese and Ronye.

After the two broke the Taboo Index, they almost were assaulted by two rich kids, Raios and Humbert, to get the message across to Kirito and Eugeo that they were powerless. It turns out the creator, Reki Kawahara, had to apologize to his fans and the Japanese voice actresses as he stated many of the influences he had while writing the series featured scenes such as those.

4 Does Sword Art Online: Progressive Change Things?

Sword Art Online: Progressive is told from Asuna Yuuki and not Kirito, which some fans say is a better alternative, as she is not nearly as overpowered as him. It also shows them progressing up the floors of the original Sword Art Online VRMMORPG and how their relationship grows throughout the series in more depth than the original series.

It sheds some light on some things that were deemed too confusing in the original series and adds more characters, helping to richen the story. Although it is not a complete rewrite, it does change some things.

3 Does The VRMMORPG Sword Art Online Still Exist?

After so many people have died playing the game, it's no wonder the game was shut down afterward. After everything that occuredーand so many people had diedーthey had no choice but to shut down the once-beloved game.

This only left ALfheim Online as the alternative, which some players transferred to after Sword Art Online was shut down.

2 How Is Yui Able To Roam Around In The Real World?

Yui is a top-down AI that Kirito and Asuna decided to adopt as their foster daughter. She can roam around in both the original Sword Art Online game and ALfheim Online, but she can be seen in the real world at the beginning of Sword Art Online: Alicization.

To make her accessible to Kirito and the others, Kirito moved Yui's database to be outside of his NerveGear, where she can be seen in devices other than games.

1 What Exactly Is The Meaning Of A "Fluctlight" In The Series?

A Fluctlight is a light particle that acts as the mindーmore widely accepted as a human mind-and the characters who reside within Project Alicization are more so of copies of souls than AIs.

This is why Alice and Eugeo had such realistic personalities and did not act like robots, as well as why Kirito was so torn when Eugeo died, as he was technically not real, but felt like such a real human that he felt like a true friend had died.

[SAO] Ultimate Beauty Quinella's past and purpose in Alicization

The administrator Quinella was the antagonist in SAO's Alicization Arc and encountered Kirito and Eugeo. Quinella was an important character in the Alicization Arc, but she had appeared in relatively few scenes and died. As a result, Quinella was a mystery to many.

tsukachan

I will introduce Quinella the Administrator, her purpose, her past, and how she died.

Contents

Who was Quinella the Administrator of SAO?

sao-quinella

The Administrator, Quinella, was the Supreme Priest of the Axiom Church, who created order and law in the Underworld. The Administrator was the absolute ruler of the Underworld, but she only appeared at the end of the Alicization Arc. Even though she was the sole ruler, the governance of the Underworld was usually left to the Senate of the Axiom Church and the Integrity Knights. Quinella usually slept for long periods of time.

The Administrator was portrayed beautifully in the SAO. Although the Administrator was quite old, she regained her own youthfulness by discovering System Authority. The Administrator used System Authority to obtain the body of a young girl and also preserved her beauty by halting her aging.

What was the purpose of Administrator Quinella?

sao-quinella

The purpose of the Administrator was actually quite simple. The Administrator‘s desire was an infinite desire to control. To please that desire for control, she achieved complete control over the human world by enacting a list of prohibitions against murder and hunting to prevent everyone to level up their authority. (Killing and hunting will increase your level of authority.) Then Quinella continued to maintain complete control over the Underworld.

Quinella took measures against Cardinal, a self-sustaining program for controlling the Underworld. The Administrator's Quinella also prepared for battles against the Dark Territories, which were said to occur in the future of the Underworld.

These actions show that Quinella the Administrator always acted with a purpose.

What was the birth and past of Quinella the Administrator in SAO?

sao-quinella

The Administrator was a girl called Quinella in the past. Quinella was the first girl born of a political marriage between two noble families in the human world and was given the Sacred Job of an apprentice of sacred arts research. In her studies of the sacred arts, Quinella realized that the sacred language had meaning, and succeeded in creating a new art form by combining sacred languages. Quinella killed animals in order to test the new magic, and she discovered that killing an animal increased her level of authority.

Realizing the importance of her level of authority, Quinella went around killing animals without being seen and increased her authority level. By further increasing her level of sacred magic, Quinella was able to heal people's injuries. Quinella had become known as the "Priestess of the God Stacia" and "Daughter of God" due to her miracles. Quinella becomes so respected by people for her ability to heal people's injuries that she established the Axiom Church and established the Index of Taboo in the form of a clear statement of the law.

sao-quinella

But even so, Quinella couldn't defy heaven's decree and was driven to the point of old age and near death. As the end drew near, Quinella finally succeeded in finding the thing she was looking for. It was the "Inspect List", a list of commands that existed in the Sacred Arts, or Underworld. With this Quinella restored her left life, and also restored her appearance to her youthful form.

Quinella then attempted to take over the Cardinal System, which controlled the Underworld system. However, Quinella was unsuccessful and fused with the Cardinal. Quinella’s basic purpose became to "maintain order in the human world". She called herself "Administrator", and became the High Priest of the Axiom Church.

For a while, after Quinella became the Administrator, she was able to rule the Underworld without problems. But a problem arises. Quinella was able to stop the natural degeneration, but her memory capacity, the soul, had reached its limit. This was an impossible situation, as normally, life runs out before memory capacity is reached.

At this time, Quinella created a sacred technique called Synthesize, which manipulated the souls and memories of others. At the time the Synthesize was created, it was a technique used by the Administrators to duplicate and overwrite souls and memories.

The Administrator succeeded in her divine magic, but the unexpected happened.

The Administrator made a backup of her memories and selected one girl for the experiment with the intention of erasing her unwanted memories. Due to the "synthesize," the moment the backup was completed, there were two cardinal systems with the highest authority. The girl with a copied memory, which also had a powerful error correction function, found an error in the copy source. The girl whose memory and soul had been overwritten became the second cardinal, an enemy of the Administrator.

How the Administrator Quinella died?

sao-kirito

In the SAO Alicization Arc, the Administrator was the last boss-like person that fought Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice. In the last battle, Alice was knocked unconscious, Eugeo left the front lines by destroying the Sword Golem and wounding the Administrator's right arm, and finally, Quinella faced Kirito. Quinella was then defeated by Kirito who wielded dual blades, Night Sky Sword, and Eugeo’s Blue Rose Sword.

Administrator Quinella was not dead at the time after the final attack by Kirito. Quinella's right arm was chopped off by Eugeo and his left arm was cut off by Kirito, but she still managed to control the console by moving her hair at will. She tried to escape into the real world. Originally, the Administrator was thinking about going to the real world in the future and was preparing for it. At this point, there was nothing Kirito could do.

sao-quinella

The Administrator was betrayed by his confidant, the Chief Chudelkin.

With his last ounce of strength, Chudelkin wrapped his body in flames and embraced the Administrator, and together they both died from burning the remaining life.

Summary of Administrator Quinella of SAO Alicization

The Administrator was a character who appeared in the SAO Alicization Arc as the absolute ruler of the Underworld. The Administrator had ruled the human world for a long time until the timeline depicted in the main SAO Arc, where she was finally defeated by Kirito and died.

The Alicization Arc, like the previous SAO boss characters, depicted the past and the events that led up to Adminsulator's past and present, making her a popular character despite her villainous nature. Since the Administrator died in the end, many people have said that it's a shame that her exploits were only depicted in the Alicization Arc. If you haven't watched the SAO Alicization Arc yet, you might want to keep an eye out for the Administrator as well.
