27 Round Coffee Tables You’re Totally Going To Want For Your Living Room

Round Coffee Tables

The coffee table you choose will help create the look and feel of your space. When choosing your table you will want to think about the shape, style, height, and material of the table.

Not all tables are created the same! The shape of the table you choose will depend on the sofa or sitting arrangement in your living space.

If you have a chaise sofa or a square shape sitting area a round coffee table is a great option. In either scenario, a round table will soften the edges and create flow in your room.

For most the sofa is the first piece they select in a room design but the next piece is usually the coffee table. Personally, I like to think of the space as a whole looking at ALL the pieces together before purchasing.

Since many do not know how to design that way they tend to look at each piece individually. That said let’s get into all the fabulous round coffee table options available.

This post is all about modern round coffee tables.

How to pick round coffee tables

1. Style

When it comes to style there are many options. There is the classic shape, layered table, and even bunching table.

You may want a more formal coffee table in your living room depending on how you have it decorated. More fragile and delicate surfaces such as glass can be used in formal living rooms.

A family room needs a sturdier coffee table. You may also want to look for one that has storage options, like drawers. The surface should be able to take abuse because spilled snacks or feet on the table are more common in casual settings.

Glass tops are generally not suitable for family rooms, not just because of fragility, but finger marks and scratches too. For glass-tops without frames, there is the danger of sharp corners, especially when you have small children.

2. Material

Take a look at your room and other furniture to determine what material would look best. Clear acrylic and glass can make a small room look more open. A hint of metal can accomplish the same goal. Glass, acrylic, metal, and stone also look good in modern living spaces.

Glass tables are less bulky than wood or metal and easier to wipe down. Plus, if you can’t find a coaster, it’s OK to put your drink on a glass top (most of the time).

3. Size

Coffee tables are available in many different shapes. While the shape of the room can play a role in choosing a coffee table, you must pay attention to your seating configuration more than anything else.

Your coffee table should be approximately two-thirds the length of your sofa. So for a 96-inch sofa, for instance, you should look for a coffee table that’s 64 inches long.

Pro Tip: Your coffee table should be approximately two-thirds the length of your sofa.

4. Space

The ideal distance from the edge of the sofa to the edge of the table is 18 inches. This distance is close enough to reach for your drink or put a magazine down but far enough to stretch out your legs.

People often leave too much or not enough room. If you have other seats in the room that you want to reach the coffee table, follow the same 18-inch rule.

Pro Tip: The ideal distance from the edge of the sofa to the edge of the table is 18 inches.

5. Shape

A rectangular or oval coffee table works well for smaller rooms.

Square or round coffee tables are good for large seating configurations. These include large sectionals or a large sofa with two accent chairs.

If you have kids, an oval or round table is a smart choice. Sharp corners and little ones just aren’t a good match. And if you need extra storage (like most families do), a table with one shelf or more underneath is a great idea.

6. Height

A coffee table’s height is key. The surface should be about one or two inches lower than your sofa seat (or the same height).

Standard tables are 16 to 18 inches high. If you have a higher couch or entertain a lot, consider a taller table around 20 or 21 inches.

The higher height will make it easy for guests to put down their cocktail or grab an appetizer.

Pro Tip: The ideal coffee table height is one or two inches lower than your sofa seat.

7. Budget

Coffee tables are available at very low and extremely high price points.

If you want a unique look with quality materials be prepared to spend between $800 to $2000. Remember the saying “you get what you pay for” when it comes to quality.

If you like to change your space often purchase a coffee table at a lower price point. For those looking for a timeless piece, you should invest in a quality statement coffee table.

Depending on how unique your round coffee table is it can become the focal point of the room.

Marble and Brass Round Coffee Tables

If you are a fashionista at heart these marble and brass tables are meant for you. Each one has its own unique style that will look fabulous in your living space.

First up is the Jonathan Adler coffee table which is sure to be a focal point in your home. It features a sinuous brass tube base with a Carrara marble top. The simple shape and glam details will make a fabulous addition to any contemporary home.

Next are the nesting tables from Pottery Barn. This is a great option if you like to entertain. When you have company over just spread them apart and place them where needed.

They also make for an awesome statement coffee table when stacked for everyday use.

The West Elm marble and brass pedestal table is another thing of beauty. I love the curvy silhouette and modern design.

It is perfect to add a level of sophistication to your glamtastic interior design.

Marble and Black Round Coffee Tables

If brass is not your jam then you’ll love these metal and marble coffee tables. Each one has a unique design that will be the center of attention in your living room, literally.

Arteriors is one of my favorite to-the-trade designer vendors to visit at HPMKT. They always have the most creative furniture designs and work with fabulous designers.

The above modern coffee table features a white marble top that sits on top of a black five-leg base. The look is a mix of industrial and lux making it the perfect choice to level up your modern home.

The sculptural coffee table from Lulu and Georgia is sure to make a statement in your design.

This table features a half-sphere pedestal base that supports a round marble top. The black base adds contrast to the white marble top.

The last table in this grouping is from Crate & Barrel. Similar to the other tables she features a white marble top with a rustic iron criss-cross metal base.

Wood Round Coffee Tables

The above gorgeous wood drum coffee tables are up next. Each one has a beautiful natural vibe to it that is perfect for adding warmth to your living space.

The first table from Lulu and Georgia feature a classic drum silhouette with beautiful warm wood tones. This coffee table is perfect to update any design style and will take on the vibe of your esthetic.

Next, we have the white-washed wood coffee table from Anthropologie. This stunning beauty features an hourglass shape that looks like a piece of art.

The teak live edge coffee table was made using reclaimed slabs and chunks of solid teak. Each table is handcrafted and unique.

If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind coffee table that will be a conversation starter this one is for you!

Concrete Round Coffee Tables

This coffee table category is another one of my favorites! I just love a good solid concrete or cement coffee table. Just saying!!

The first one from Four Hands is not only a quality coffee table but also unique. If you are looking to create a focal point this ombre coffee table will do the trick.

Next, we have another favorite vendor Sunpan. They also have the BEST party at HPMKT which all the cool designers attend. I have actually seen the above concrete coffee table in person and it is stunning.

It can even be used for both your indoor outdoor design and entertaining. The 31″ size is perfect for both smaller spaces and large.

The black handmade cement coffee table from CB2 is awesome to update any contemporary home. It can be used for both indoor and outdoor use as well.

The matte black steel base provides strength and durability to the natural-looking drum top. Make a statement by adding this unique coffee table to your interior design.

Round Textured Coffee Tables

Adding texture to your interior design is a great way to infuse style and personality. The layering of textures, materials, colors, and shapes are all elements designers use to add interest to an interior space.

That said here are three coffee tables that are full of texture and interest.

First up is this transitional coffee table design from Arteriors. It is completely wrapped in coiled rattan and has a sloping detail at the top edge for interest. This one is fabulous to update any style of home.

If you are looking to bring in a natural textured element look no further. The Madura coffee table from Scout & Nimble is finished in deep coal, all-weather wicker.

You’ll bring the outdoors in with the natural texture of this stunning coffee table. The black color is also perfect to add contrast to a neutral living room design.

Next, we have the black and antique gold raffia coffee table from Bellacor. This table is the perfect mix of modern and contemporary design all in one.

Unique Coffee Tables

Here are three unique drum coffee tables that will totally level up your home decor.

If you are looking for a statement indoor outdoor coffee table that will be a conversation starter here you go!

This table features hand-chiseled desert stone and a terrazzo tabletop that is fully removable. You’ll appreciate the adjustable nylon glides on the base if mobility is an important feature to you.

So I’m just a little obsessed with the next coffee table from Moe’s available on Amazon.

The beautiful design features a veneer of white and black camel bone and resin. The elegant brass base adds a level of sophistication to the simple silhouette.

The Arhaus modern coffee table is another favorite. I know I have a lot of favorites BUT I mean come on… these coffee tables are works of art! NO?!

Made of reclaimed wood with weathered metal this coffee table will make a statement in your living room design. This one-of-a-kind mixed-material coffee table was handcrafted by Mexican artisans.

Solid iron panels are left outside in the elements to naturally oxidize and are then molded around the natural shape of wood veneers.

The pieces of wood are from ethically salvaged yuca trees which make the process good for the environment. Each coffee table is truly a work of art and will create a focal point in your home.

Inlay Round Coffee Tables

Inlay coffee tables are another way to incorporate style and personality. Both these stunning designs from Anthropologie feature inlay designs that will make a statement in your living room.

I know I keep saying the terms “statement” and “focal point” but this is the impact a beautifully designed coffee table will have in your room.

The first table features beaming rays of antiqued brass in the white marble top. The base is made of handcrafted Indian rosewood which is the perfect contrast to the white top.

If you prefer a more intricate design check out the delicate foliage spiral design of the next inlay coffee table. This stunning piece of beauty will add a luxurious look and feel to any space.

Storage Round Coffee Tables

For those who are tight on space or have small kids a storage coffee table is the way to go!

The CB2 burl wool coffee table design will totally level up any space. Featuring a low profile of 14″ the coffee table is perfect for the modern living room design.

This table is made of a luxe layer of Italian Mappa burl wood known for its hi/lo tonal contrast. There is a large push open drawer in the center that will neatly hide remotes and other living room necessities.

The West Elm coffee table design is another fabulous storage option. This drum coffee table is available in two colorways.

Each one features hidden storage, a solid sustainably sourced mango wood removable top, and mixed materials. This one is awesome for the active family who also loves to entertain guests.

Drum Coffee Table

In case you haven’t noticed there are many choices when it comes to round drum coffee tables. Here are two fabulous styles to update your modern contemporary home.

Add the beautiful hammered iron drum coffee table to your design for a luxurious look. Due to the handcrafted construction, this coffee table makes for a one-of-a-kind statement piece.

For a modern glam twist on the classic wood drum coffee table, this beauty from Etsy is fabulous. The simple design features mango wood with brass details for a touch of glam.

Modern Round Coffee Tables

These are the last two modern round coffee tables of the bunch. There have been so many amazing options you may just have trouble choosing!

The trick is to breathe and not get overwhelmed in the design process.

Decide on the look you are after and narrow the choices down to two or three you love. Then either sit will the choices for a bit (till the right one speaks to you) OR ask friends and family to be the tiebreaker. HAHA!

Now back to the final two…

First, we have the lucite coffee table from Williams Sonoma. For those will a small space the lucite table will make your space appear larger.

Anytime you add a clear piece of furniture to your design it will give off a light and airy appearance. The lux design and silhouette are also fabulous for the modern glam living room design.

Lastly is the Arhaus modern coffee table which is available in the brown oak wood (shown) or the darker ebony for contrast. The hand-rubbed finish will add warmth and interest to any style space.

This style of coffee table is offered in a variety of shapes and sizes to mix and match. You’ll create a unique design and make a statement with this modern coffee table style.

There are many colors and materials to choose from when it comes to round coffee tables. There is no right or wrong coffee table there is just the one that speaks to you! That’s the one you should choose, my friends.

I hope this post gives you ideas and inspiration as you source the perfect coffee table for your design.

Have an amazing day full of Unicorns & Rainbows!

xo Nicole

Coffee table inch round 27

We were noticing that this was a post that a lot of people have been looking at recently so we thought let’s just put it up at the top of the blog again! Picking out a coffee table is something that you think you just instinctually know how to do… until it’s time to find one. That’s why we made this post so you don’t have to guess what size, shape, or type you need to make the perfect sofa match. Enjoy this quick little republish. xx

The coffee table. So functional, so often an afterthought. Sofas get all the living room glory, and sure they keep us comfortable. But the coffee table is the workhorse of the living room. It holds our drinks, remote controls, beloved tech devices, treasured trinkets, and, for better or worse, our take-out dinners at the end of a long day. It occasionally doubles as a stool (which we’re not endorsing, for legal reasons, but we won’t deny having done on occasion), a desk, or a craft table. With such a big, diverse job, you’d surmise that it would be one of the first furniture pieces you thought about when moving into a new place and/or re-decorating… except it’s usually not.

How many hours do we put into choosing the perfect sofa, the perfect rug, the perfect chairs for our living room…only to throw in a hand-me-down coffee table that used to belong to Aunt Susan? (bless her heart). Okay, we don’t all go down the who-cares-about-a-coffee-table route. Plenty of you have definitely belabored the choice of a table, we’re sure, but regardless of what side of those scenarios you find yourself, you might need some guidance or inspiration in the coffee table shopping department. What size and shape go with what sofa size and shape? It might feel like a shot in the dark, but fear not, we’re here to help. We’ve put together a shopping guide with all the best coffee tables we could find—round, square, rectangular, oval!—and a few rules to keep in mind (with a diagram!) when choosing a coffee table.

First up: rules. While you can, of course, go with whatever shape and size you like, to have an ideal relationship between your coffee table and sofa, here are some general things to keep in mind: Your coffee table should be at least half the length of your sofa (but no more than roughly ⅔ the length) and should sit at about the same height as the seat, give or take 4 inches (i.e., if your sofa is 90-inches long and 20-inches tall, you should look for something, no matter the shape, that’s around 45 to 54 inches wide and 16 to 24 inches tall). However, if you have a sectional with a chaise, and your table is going within the open L-shape that sofa shape creates, that 1/2 to 2/3 guideline applies better to just the length of the horizontal seat, rather than the full length of the sofa. Here’s a quick graphic to show you what we mean, as well as a breakdown of ideal shapes by sofa configuration:

Coffee Table Size And Shape Guide

For more living room-specific tips, see this post where we broke down tons of super helpful tips like how much space you need around a table, rug size rules, lighting guidelines and more.

Once you figure out the right size and shape, after that, it’s more about making the right design choice for your space. Rectangular and oval-shaped coffee tables can almost be interchanged, depending on what kind of flow you’re looking for—same goes with round and square. Let’s break it down a bit further (with the bonus of our favorite shopping picks):

Consider rectangle (or oval but more on this shape next) if you have a standard sofa (or an extra-long sofa with chaise) so everyone can have easy access to their coffee, cocktail or late-night snack of choice. This is also a great choice if you have a narrow space with minimal walk-around clearance. If you’re a household with more remotes or tech cords than you can count, think about getting a table with some functional but still sleek drawers like #1, #21, #23 and #30. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the table at #2 has a shadow box top  (that’s great for putting in your favorite curiosities and trinkets but still having plenty of surface area for you know…real life stuff. Oh, and if you regularly eat in front of your TV (whether by choice or because you don’t actually have a formal dining area), a lift-top coffee table is super useful for not having to hunch over your plate (#10 and #29).

Traditional Living Room Blue Walls

If you have a large comfy sectional or the traditional conversational set up with a sofa and a couple of chairs (kind of like Ginny’s living room above), a square table is a great choice. It fits perfectly in the L-shape nook of your sectional or the big space in the middle of your chat zone. The best part of a square table? You get the most styling space bang for your buck. Who doesn’t love a well-styled coffee table vignette? We really like the mix of the square top and round base of table #1 for a play on shapes. Similar to the shadow box table we talked about in the previous section, #2 from IKEA has a draw with four sections, and the glass top lets you see all the pretty things you decide to store (definitely not the best option if you know you’ll just end up junking up that drawer with remotes and catalogs, though).

Arlyn Hernandez Makeover Takeover Living Room Ehd2

For anyone living in a small space where every piece of furniture counts, think about cutting corners (literally) and going with something round. It’s also a good choice to pair with a sectional or sofa with chaise since it’s a good “nook” shape, i.e. it fits into a little nook of space nicely like in the family room of Jaime Derringer from Design Milk above. Another hot tip if space is at a premium or if your room is already busy is to consider a glass top like #9 and #24. This helps things appear more visually open—if you don’t see it, is it really even there? Speaking of smaller spaces, storage is NEVER unwelcome in a tight room, which is why we really love #10, #22 and #25 for their deep, hidden-away storage (great for stashing hobby items, toys and more). Round coffee tables also seem to have a bit more fun (the blondes of the table world??), so why not cash in on the availability of options for something more sculptural like #4, #6, #16, #20 and #27?

Emily Henderson Waverly Living Room 2018 Fall Update 7 1670x2088

Oval is a good call if you have some small humans running around and want to attempt to avoid any face-to-table sharp edge encounters (round is also good for this). If your living room is a high-traffic area (like, do you have to walk through it to get to another space like the kitchen or dining room?), a more sinuous shape helps with visual flow, as well. It accomplishes the same look as a rectangle but softens a really angular or modern sofa. The classic mixed marble and wood design (#1) is a favorite around here (check it out in Emily’s living room here). The thin legs keep it light and floaty (which balances the heavier wood at the bottom). Of course, the Platner table (#5) is a modern design classic, and while the brass table above from Brady’s living room is no longer available, we found a similar one in a brass tone (#7) if you love the silhouette but are flexible on the metal finish. If you’re into making a bit more of a statement, check out the petrol blue table from West Elm at #19; it has a retro, ’80s inspired vibe that could add a serious cool factor to a simple, stripped back living space.

How to Style a Round Coffee Table

Tearing himself away from his toy, he got out of the car and headed towards Elena's door, opening it, he ordered the woman to get out. She stood on her limp legs and looked at such a welcome, completely alien to her, and wanted only one thing. Turning her around to face the car, he lifted her skirt and in one sharp movement lowered her wet white panties to her ankles, Elena lifted her legs one.
