With VVT deleted you are good with those numbers. If you had kept VVT I would have considered the Melling 10296 HV pump. That is what I run and my hot idle is at 42-43 lbs and over 5k rpms I am over 60 lbs. I didn't really need these higher pressures with an LS3 but since the engine came with the pump and it was new, I ran it.

The biggest issue is that your going to want to pull the oil pump to set the timing.

When I did my second cam swap I wanted to leave the oil pump on and could not see the timing mark to line things up, I ended up 1 tooth off and had to take it out to correct it.

The top pic is off 1 tooth and the bottom 1 is after I corrected it.

You cannot see the mark on the crank gear with the oil pump on. (You could do it with tdc etc. But I decided to just pop the oil pump and get it done.)

But I see a bunch on here saying it's no more than a 4-5 hour job and nothing about pulling the motor.. Can someone please let me know what needs to be done to replace the pump , a quick step by step.. Doesn't have to be super detailed just a quick guide so I know what I'm looking at please.. Thanks for any help in advance guys..!

I thought I saved my engine as well by shutting it down immediately. I was in car, started it, seen oil pressure warning and turned car off. Towed car to shop, replaced oil pump. Cool, back on road, all appeared well. Unfortunately, not the case. I eventually got a check engine light. Basically, low oil pressure for cars operating conditions. Come to find out, it appears that the initial damage steamrolled into a destroyed 650 HP forged engine.

i hope yours is not the same. I was lucky enough to be able to put in a LSX-376 B15 long block, with original Maggie and a few other items. Final tune turned 765 HP/686 lbs of torque (Flywheel). So all is good now, but after many painful nights.

Good luck.

Ss oil pump 2010 camaro

Q: 2010 camaro ss I'm getting a low oil pressure stop engine light. Oil is topped off and oil pressure is reading normal on guage

2010 camaro ss I'm getting a low oil pressure stop engine light. Oil is topped off and oil pressure is reading normal on guage and Is only happening at idle if I tap the gas it goes away but after idling for a couple seconds it comes back on.

My car has 35000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Hi There, If your oil pressure falls below a specific level, the ECM (car’s computer) will in some cases automatically shut the engine down or put the vehicle into a reduced power mode to avoid further damage to the engine. This is done as a safety precaution. Typically, the oil pressure light will come on when you are in fact low on oil, the oil pump is not pumping oil properly or in some cases when the oil pressure sensor is faulty providing a false reading. In any case, this should be looked at as soon as possible by a qualified mechanic. I would suggest having one of our experts here at YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your vehicle.

How To: Remove\\Install A LS Oil Pump Install. (While Engine IS Still In Car.)

Camaro SS / G8 / SS / Caprice PPV Racing Oil Pan Baffle

The GM LS family small blocks are prone to oil starvation at high Gs, especially at higher RPMs where oil aeration and windage is more prevalent. Proper oil pan baffling is critical for improving oil control and reducing oil starvation in these engines.

Improved Racing's baffles provide very effective, track-proven protection against oil starvation for road racing, drifting, autocross, drag racing and even off-roading and rock crawling. The baffle uses trap doors to keep oil around the pickup tube and provides vastly improved oil control over the stock baffle. This baffle is sufficient to prevent oil pressure drops at up to 1.4 sustained lateral G's in most vehicles.

The optional Oil pan gasket kit includes a new performance single-piece oil pan gasket (part number HGA-1001) and a OEM oil pickup tube O-ring. It is recommended that these components be replaced when installing a used oil pan.

Old part number EGM-1005.

Features and Benefits

  • Track-proven to prevent oil starvation at up to 1.4 sustained lateral G's
  • Directional trap door baffling completely encloses the oil pump pickup for maximum protection against oil starvation at high Gs
  • 100% bolt in, no welding necessary. This is a direct bolt-in replacement for the stock steel baffle in the stock oil pan
  • Baffle plate with drain-back slots help accelerate return of oil to the bottom of the sump while also preventing oil slosh and reducing oil consumption
  • Reduces the risk of oil starvation when oil levels are low
  • Works with the factory cast aluminum oil pan, which is considered a structural member of the engine block and is less prone to failure or leaking than aftermarket sheet metal pans
  • Light-weight aluminum construction
  • Solid body aircraft rivets employed for securing trap doors
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • Made in the USA

Test Data

The graph below plots oil pressures with the factory baffling (in red) versus the Improved Racing EGM-204 baffle (in black). A complete chart with oil pressure, RPM and lateral G-force plots can be seen in PDF format by clicking here. A second chart that adds several additional logged parameters can be seen by clicking here.
