1. We have recently purchased a Signature Cat C-15 6NZ engine from Pittsburgh Power. We have come across a few problems that I think need to be addressed. First, This engine arrived w/ old frayed wiring harness, no ID tags whatsoever, no hand fuel pump, leaking oil pan gasket w/ wrong bolts in it...we had a 8" dia. oil puddle after running 2 minutes, blistered corroded valve covers w/o decals, and a spray can paint job. The engine runs rough and is missing on one cylinder. We have asked Allstate Peterbilt to plug into the ECM and give a diagnosis. Second, after that problem was addressed, Allstate said that timing backlash was off and they corrected that. They also put the injector wire on that fell off. The engine seems to run good... much better than before when it was missing obviously. However, we have a new oil leak... it is on the front cover up in behind the water pump...very difficult to get to! The gentleman that assembled that truck noticed the problem when he was prepping the engine for installation...he discovered a few loose bolts on the front cover and tightened them. They may have to take the front cover and water pump off to reseal it. It leaves a little puddle on the floor after the engine is shut down.
   
   
   Now I'm not trying to put down Pittsburgh Power in anyway. I'm just hoping we don't have further problems with this engine after we spent enough money and was told it was a LOW MAINTENANCE engine! I hope you have better luck than we have. I also know this could easily just be a bad deal or a one off mistake. I don't want to complain, I just wanted to address the problem, What do you guys think we should do?

3. Did you get a hold of PP before you came here and try to get things worked out with them? They were the ones who put that engine together and sold it to you, right?

   What T800H said. If PP sold as a "good" or rebuilt motor, then i believe you have a very legit gripe.

5. Yea, it was a rebuilt engine. They claim all the time "better than new" and all this b/s. Engine is in a 2011 Peterbilt 388 Glider Kit we just recently ordered brand new. Haven't even seen the truck in person yet. From what the pictures I've seen of the engine, it looks like it was extremely rushed. I plan on discussing the issue tomorrow, hopefully we get everything resolved.

6. I dont know what you paid for the engine, not any of my business, but i'm sure it wasn't cheap. I've seen pictures in their catalogue of what look like brand spankin new engines they've overhauled so shiny and clean you could eat off of them. I'd be dissapointed if I was in your shoes too. What they sold you isnt exactly what they advertise. They claim to hot tank the blocks to strip off all the old grease and paint. I'd be mad as hell but try to remain calm while getting some "what the hell!?" answers. Good luck and keep us updated.

I will keep following this thread to see what happens with PP.My plan is to purchase a new glider next spring,and I was getting excited aout all the hype from the folks at PP,but as usual,I`ll wait for the rest of the story.I know if I bought a new truck and had any of this trouble I would be standing in their lobby coming unglued.

   Bingo!!!
   Had a KTA at one time. Bruce claimed to be GOD with these motors. Several phone calls and very little ever happened. I would have been very interested in some parts. They claimed to have great inventories but never sold me anything(other than a few low buck items).
   Reminds me of the ole saying... If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is...

9. The more I hear, the less I am impressed with pittburgh power.
   
   I would say a guy would be much better off taking a truck to a local shop where if they screw it up you can simply drive across town to deal with em, not across the country.
