"We had a group of 14 people who wanted to do something active. Golf was an option, and so were the amusement parks, but I chose ATV riding. Oh! my goodness what a blast choice waiting in line for a 3 minute ride or a 2 hour action packed adventure..... no competition but why oh! why isn't there a place like this in my home town ? We will be back.

Steven Mackintosh Aylesbury UK

"Revolution Off Road customized our experience and had us riding ATVs, Dune Buggies and even provided lunch. We split into groups so that there was minimal down time waiting for equipment. For four hours we had a blast. Our team had all experience levels from never done it and afraid to ride, to own an ATV and ride extensively. Every one of us had a great time.

Canadian Railways

Without a doubt the best place on earth to host a fishing competition amazing lake, great people and scenery to long for. Superb....

Eduardo Hernandez Memorial Trail

great but short

September, 2021 by wcexwgsmc6

I’ve in-line skated at this trail, it’s nice and smooth for the most part the north end towards 64th st gets un skatable but there’s a sidewalk one the side you can use instead. But the rest of the trail heading south for 40th is lots of fun and just a couple street crossing so nothing to dangerous. For my liking it’s just a little short only a little over a mile doesn’t go to far, if some how they extended it to 8th street or something that would be great! Either way great trail for a walk or a short safe bike ride with the family

Great time in miami

July, 2021 by robertrollins28079

My wife and I and our autistic son had the pleasure of riding the old cutler trail today. We started on the north end and rode to within a a mile or so of the southern terminus. An overall fantastic time. I read some of the comments about tree roots, but we didn't have any major issues. There was one section where the trail could use a bit of work but we found it to be in very good order. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Pompano Airpark Bike Trail

Only half good for skaters

July, 2021 by dlewis7

If you're looking for a place to inline skate in Pompano Beach this is just... ok. The trail is smooth pavement on the Southern and Western sides - pretty nice for skating. The North and East sides - not so much. The pavement is rougher with a fair amount of debris, particularly on the east side. Its not unskateable but - you definitely need to take it slow and you wonder how your wheels and bearings are holding up the whole time.

I recommend sticking to the south and west legs and just doubling back when you get to the corner. It's pretty obvious where the rough stuff starts.

El Rio Trail

Nice trail with some street crossings that aren't that bad.

July, 2021 by davidehand

I parked my car in the Costco parking lot, and rode my bike to the trail from there. There were no major intersection to be crossed. Instead, the road crossings were on less busy parts. The trail is nice, but there a few parts with tree roots making the asphalt bulge a bit. The iguanas were pretty cool to observe even though I do believe they're an invasive species. There are some bridges you can go under, but you may want to be careful when it gets late because it's hard to see under them. Also, there was a sign warning that part could become flooded. So far, I would say it's a nice ride.

Atlantic Greenway

Local Perspective

July, 2021 by szieg123

I ride this trail several times a week. Since June 2021 it now stretches up 79th street and has many updated sections. It has very nice ocean views and generally good pavement. A few small sections have some bumpy bricks which isn't ideal if you're on a skateboard. After rainstorms it can be covered with sand and puddles in the morning, but city crews are pretty good about keeping it clean. There's not much shade so sunscreen is a must. The further south you go, the more congested it gets. Watch out for tourists on rental bikes in the south and stray cats in the northern half. At times, there can be lots of pedestrians so don't expect high speeds on this route.

nice ride

July, 2021 by arields2005

I have been using this trail for about 3 months only on the weekends. It is good for bike training, but in the section of US-1 the pavement is not in good condition. I hope they fix it soon.

Cypress Creek Greenway

Oh hell no!

June, 2021 by rustyguyzzz

Looks good at first riding on concrete as opposed to gravel, but ,then you end up riding in a bike lane with cars going by. When I got to the first parts where I would have to cross a busy street, I turned around, and went back to my car. It took a while to actually locate the trail. I wouldn't have minded that if the trail wasn't so close to traffic.

El Rio Trail

Great bike ride bring sunscreen

May, 2021 by crystalreichle

This was a very nice multi-use path. I tried to go tot he start at FAU but I couldn’t find the “guest” parking near the trail so I rode my bike starting at Countess de Hoernle Park (Spanish River Athletic Center). If you park there the path inside the park will lead you to T-Rex trail toward the Tri-Rail station and from there you can connect on to El Rio. I first rode to the north end of the trail which now goes to congress on the border of Del Ray/Boca. Then I rode to the other end which ends at Glades and then back to the parking area for a total of 12.4 miles. There are water fountains along the route and plenty of iguanas laying in the sunshine. I will bring the family back to ride with my kids. There are crossing gates across some roadways but they are well marked and have caution signals you can press.

Hiatus Road Greenway

relaxing trail

April, 2021 by milzoff

A smooth, relaxing ride with only a few intersections to cross. Not the most exciting scenery but nice on a sunny day: saw MANY birds, lizards, and some cows and horses at farms. 12 miles total back and forth. One parking FYI: Welleby Park is undergoing expansion so one entrance is closed and you won’t be able to bike thru the park to trailhead. The expansion entrance is just around the corner; Easy enough to start the trail on Hiatus itself.

great family bike ride

Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail

B and K

March, 2021 by barbel3254

We just got finished with riding the FKOHT in it’s entirety. We did it in sections and enjoyed having done it this way. It is a beautiful ride but like others have said, carry lots of water and sunscreen. We were quite surprised in some areas because the trail seemed to have ended. There are very few signs that indicate you are on the FKOHT, in fact we didn’t see any. Better signage would be a benefit and an indicator that the trail has switched sides or whether or not the trail route is on the berm of the road would be helpful. Also, a terminal marker in Key Largo is needed. We couldn’t tell where it started in Key Largo so we just hopped on. Regardless, we had a wonderful time and have great memories

Final Florida Ride at Croom ATV Park

Florida is one of the United States’ best destinations for outdoor sports, off-roading included. Of course, ATV riding in Miami is sure to be the crown jewel for any off-roading enthusiast’s holiday in the Sunshine State, so here is a great guide of the best places to go, from trails to tours.

Where are the best ATV rides in Miami and around? Our top picks include:

  1. Apalachicola National Forest
  2. Miami Motocross Park
  3. Lazy Springs Recreation Park
  4. Redneck Mud Park
  5. Sandlot Off-Road Adventure Park
  6. Ocala National Forest
  7. Withlacoochee State Forest
  8. Big Cypress National Preserve
  9. Osceola National Forest

Some are a bit of a drive away from Miami itself, but they showcase the best of the state’s trails and excellent forest routes, so we think they’re worth the trip!

ATV Riding in Miami

1. Apalachicola National Forest

Unfortunately for Miami, the closest trail to the city is the South Dade Trail, a paved 21-mile way out of the city restricted to non-motorized travel only. So, we’ll need to head further away to get some ATV riding in Florida!

One of the top destinations is Apalachicola National Forest, near Tallahassee. It offers 100 miles of smooth, flat, sandy, and dusty trails, which can get muddy in the rain. This is a very popular place for ATV riders, accessed from Silver Lake Recreational Area. There are many picnic tables here; you can swim in the lake or hike a 3-mile interpretive trail. Then, jump on your ATV and enjoy the paths from the OHV trailhead.

You need a permit to ride your ATV in the Apalachicola National Forest, which will cost $10 for three days or $75 for a full year. Trails are open year-round but can close at short notice, so it’s a good idea to check before you go.

2. Miami Motocross Park

Although a motocross park, the Miami MX Park in Hialeah, FL, is close to Miami and allows ATV access.

They offer dirt bike riding lessons, as well as bike and gear rentals if you’re tempted to try it out. Otherwise, you should check with the park when ATVs are allowed. The park is open on Wednesday afternoons and at the weekend. As a human-made trail riding experience, it’s great to practice skills and get on your ATV quickly near Miami, without commuting a long distance.

3. Lazy Springs Recreation Park

One of the best Florida off road parks awaits you at Lazy Springs, located just east of Fort Myers. The park has a bit of everything: waterskiing, wave running, and fishing in the lakes, as well as mud pits, motocross trails, hilly trails, rocks, and dirt to enjoy on your ATV.

Prices are $20 for a day pass and then $10 per vehicle. You can bring an RV or rent a tent pitch as well, staying overnight for another $10 per RV/camper/tent.

Mud is the keyword for this location, especially in the rainy season. Just take a look at some of their photos to get a taster for what’s in store!

4. Redneck Mud Park

The Redneck Mud Park in Punta Gorda is a one-stop-shop for fantastic events, mud holes, entertainment, great trails, and pretty much anything you could want from an off road park.

They have four mud holes to suit all capability levels and miles of trails crossing 880 acres of land, from wider and more relaxed to narrower, winding routes. Don’t worry about getting stuck in the mud – they have an extraction vehicle just for those situations!

There is enough space for primitive camping at Redneck Mud Park, and trails are accessible from all camping areas to make it easier to get out and ride.

The park features a main staging area where concerts and events take place. Every Friday and Saturday night, head over there for contests where you can win cash and prizes.

The infrastructure at Redneck Mud Park is indeed superb, finishing off with a buggy wash area you can drive through at the end of your stay to wash off your vehicle and even yourself before you head home.

5. Sandlot Off-Road Adventure Park

Sandlot Off-Road Adventure Park features lots of different trails, from single-tracks to professionally designed motocross tracks, mud bogs, and lots of fun spots. There’s even a designated play area for mud lovers riding Jeeps and ATVs.

You can stay in the park on its huge campground with various amenities, including shower rooms, a spray wash station, and an on-site store for any last-minute repair needs.

But Sandlot isn’t just for off-road riding, although that’s a significant part of the attraction. There are four themed paintball courses on the premises, an amphitheater for live concerts, and even a water park with white sandy beaches.

You can think of Sandlot Off-Road Adventure Park as an outdoor park for any interest. They open five days a week, but these times will be subject to seasonal demand. Prices range from $15 per person as a spectator, passenger in an ATV, and for beach access, while for ATVs, you’ll need to pay $25 for a day pass. However, bear in mind that this gets you access to Florida’s “largest and most epic off-road park.”

6. Ocala National Forest

Florida’s national forests are a paradise for ATV riders, and Ocala is no exception. You’ll have to travel just north of Orlando for its trailheads, but it does have some of the best ATV trails in Florida, with a network of six different trail loops making up 200 miles of riding.

You’ll find tall trees and sandy terrain on these wide tracks, and some of them take you through the Big Scrub ecosystem, a globally imperiled environment that is both awe-inspiring and thought-provoking.

Find detailed information on each trail system, the best trailheads depending on your vehicle, campground, and pass/permit information here. We highly recommend the Ocala Adventure Trail, a 47-mile loop passing through one of the world’s most extensive sand shrub pine forests.

7. Withlacoochee State Forest

Close to Cape Canaveral, Withlacoochee State Forest cover over 2,600 acres of off-road land open to ATVs and off-road vehicles. Within it, you’ll find some of the best Florida off road trails at the Croom Motorcycle Area, with routes ranging from basic to challenging and terrain, including hardwood hammocks, scrub, and pits, which are remnants of old mining operations.

Croom Motorcycle Area has its own campground for staying overnight, and there are other accommodation options around.

Withlacoochee State Forest is one of the “10 Coolest Places You’ve Never Been in North America” and has lots more to offer, including amazing wildlife viewing opportunities. Discover bald eagles, foxes, squirrels, gopher tortoises, white-tailed deers, and more.

8. Big Cypress National Preserve

The closest big ATV riding area to Miami is definitely the Big Cypress National Preserve. However, although there are many trails to ride on, they are mostly designated for private property access or to ride to specifically designated activity areas for hunting, fishing, camping, or observing wildlife. This means there are no mudding areas or designated trails for the exclusive use of ATV riders to practice skills. However, you can off-road here at a slower pace and enjoy the incredible natural surroundings.

Designated trails can be found here, and information on permits and what’s allowed is all here.

9. Osceola National Forest

Within Osceola National Forest, you’ll find a good number of old forest service roads that are opened to all types of motorized vehicles and allow for some excellent ATV riding. Conditions can often be waterlogged, so be ready for mud and swamps!

This riding area is not defined as others where you’d have a designated car park or staging area. Instead, park on the side of Mount Carrie Road and carry on to the trails from there. Alternatively, you can stay at Wiggins or Seventeen Mile Campground, offering direct trail access and primitive camping pitches.

The great thing about Osceola National Forest is there is no need to pay for a day pass. However, you need to have a trail permit to ride here. Make sure you download the motor vehicle use map showing where you can ride and enjoy the trails!
