    Trivia/Notes

    • One of the Bible passages Abby recites is from the Book of Job, Chapter 38, verse 17. She recites only the first half of the verse, "Have the gates of death been shown to you?". The second half reads "Have you seen the gates of deep shadows?". It is surprising that this portion was omitted, considering how well it fits into the light/dark themes of the episode.
    • Six of the twenty-three names on the wall of name plaques are of producers, writers, directors, and a key make-up artist: L. Woodward, N. Baer, S. Gemmil, Salamunovich (for both M. and C.), B. Arrollo, and J. Orman. All the rest are names of characters from the show's history, mostly doctors (Del Amico , Barnett , Finch , Benton , Corday , Doyle, Lewis , Ross , Gallant , Chen , Pratt , Malucci , Greene , Weaver , and Romano ) with one nurse (Hathaway ) and one medical student (Knight ). Carter did not put his name on the wall because he thought it defaced government property. The presence of Malucci's plaque introduces a minor continuity error as when he left in Season 8, Episode 4, he made a point of ripping it off his locker himself and taking it away with him.
    • This episode is Maura Tierney 's last appearance as a series regular. She would return one more time for a brief appearance in the episode "Shifting Equilibrium ."
    • Goran Visnjic has no dialogue in this episode and only appears at the very end.
    • Although listed in the opening credits, David Lyons does not appear in this episode.

    ER (season 15)

    Season of television series

The fifteenth and final season of the American fictional drama television series ER premiered on September 25, 2008 and concluded on April 2, 2009, in a two-hour episode preceded by a one-hour retrospective special. The season consists of 22 episodes. The season includes the returns of multiple members of the cast from previous seasons, with the exceptions of Gloria Reuben, Maria Bello, Kellie Martin, Michael Michele, Erik Palladino, Ming-Na Wen and Sharif Atkins.

    Plot[edit]

The final season opens up revealing Gregory Pratt is the victim of the ambulance explosion. Despite the rallying efforts of his workplace colleagues, he succumbs to his injuries and dies. The season introduces Cate Banfield as new ER chief, a woman with a seemingly mysterious past with County General. Luka Kovač and Abby Lockhart leave for a new life in Boston, Brenner must deal with issues surrounding his childhood, and he comes to a crossroads in his relationship with Neela, Samantha Taggart and Tony Gates' relationship suffers a major setback after an accident involving Alex Taggart while Neela Rasgotra is forced to make some tough decisions, both personal and professional.

To mark the end of the series after 15 years, several former cast members make a return to the show. Mark Greene and Robert Romano appear in a flashback episode that explores Banfield's history with County General while John Carter returns to work at County although, unbeknown to his colleagues, he is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Peter Benton, Doug Ross, Carol Hathaway, Susan Lewis, Elizabeth Corday, Kerry Weaver and Ray Barnett return in various episodes. The series ends with one final multiple casualty incident that brings multiple patients to the ER, and shows that life goes on at County General.

    ER Show Summary

ER follows the medical personnel and patients in the emergency room of Chicago's fictional County General Hospital.

As the doctors and nurses of County's ER confront the daily challenges of a busy urban hospital, including overcrowded waiting rooms, staffing shortages, and the impact of life-and-death decisions. While they teach the next generation of doctors, the each must tackle demands of their personal lives, at times unsuccessfully.

The staff is led by Chief of Emergency Medicine Dr. Luka Kovac, a gifted teacher who came to Chicago from Croatia following the tragic death of his wife and children, but now finds his life on an upswing, and Dr. Kerry Weaver, County's Chief of Staff, a compassionate doctor and uncompromising administrator whose rigid style has isolated her from the medical staff. The ER is staffed by fourth-year resident Dr. Gregory Pratt, who puts patients before procedure, yet fears the responsibility now thrust upon him, feisty nurse Samantha Taggart a tough single mother attempting to balance her difficult personal issues with her demanding professional life, and Scott Grimes as the less than capable Chief Resident Dr. Archie Morris, along with a trio of second year residents: Dr. Abby Lockhart a former ER nurse turned doctor, building a new career and a new life that has taken a sudden and unexpected turn, Dr. Neela Rasgotra recently married and finding her role in the ER after a long period of uncertainty, and Dr. Ray Barnett who must make the choice between his career as a doctor and the rock band in which he plays. Featured this season as recurring characters are John Leguizamo as the innovative, and problematic, Dr. Victor Clemente, Kristen Johnston as demanding Nurse Manager Eve Peyton, and Leland Orser as the ER's highly individual surgical attending, Dr. Lucien Dubenko.
