Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) Car Rental

  • Renter’s spouse or domestic partner who meet the same age and driver’s license requirements of the renter are authorized drivers at no additional charge.  Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet age and driver’s license requirements.  An additional charge of $15 per day for each additional authorized driver will be added to the cost of the rental, unless other contractual conditions apply.

A spouse or domestic partner is the only permitted additional driver on a rental secured with a debit card.

  • Please see the Renter Requirements policy for age requirements and youthful driver charges.

  • This reservation is being made with a Contract ID number (CID) assigned to a Corporate Account for use exclusively by its eligible renters. Use of this CID by individuals other than eligible renters is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action. Renters using this CID may be required to show proof of employment or authorization (such as a business card, current email with company domain, work order, etc.). Questions about acceptable proof of employment or authorization should be directed to your Travel Manager.

  • Rentals originating in the United States: Most vehicles rented in the US can be driven throughout US and Canada. Some vehicle classes like Exotics, Large Passenger or Cargo Vans, and other specialty vehicles may not be allowed to travel outside of the US. Please reach to the renting location directly for details on cross-border restrictions.

Most locations do not allow travel into Mexico. If you wish to travel into Mexico, you will be required to purchase additional insurance to cover the vehicle while in Mexico. Please contact the branch directly to determine limitations and availability.

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not insurance.  The purchase of CDW is optional and not required in order to rent a vehicle.

You may purchase optional CDW for an additional fee.  If you purchase CDW we agree, subject to the actions that invalidate CDW listed on the rental agreement, to contractually waive your responsibility for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss or theft of, the vehicle. DW does not apply to damage occurring in Mexico.

When deciding whether or not to purchase CDW, you may wish to check with your insurance representative or credit card company to determine whether, in the event of damage to, or theft of, vehicle, you have coverage or protection for such damage or theft and the amount of your deductible or out-of-pocket risk.

*For rentals originating in California- CDW ranges between 10.99 USD and 500.00 USD per day depending on the type of vehicle rented.

  • For retail rentals only secured with Extended Protection within the cost of the rental (excluding any liability protection or insurance coverage provided under a commercial contract), the following shall apply:

Extended Protection (EP) (Where available): Owner provides Renter or any AAD with third party liability protection in an amount equal to the minimum financial responsibility limits applicable to the vehicle (the Primary Protection). EP also provides additional third party liability protection, through an excess liability policy, with limits of the difference between the Primary Protection and a combined single limit of $1 million per accident for bodily injury and/or property damage to others arising out of the use or operation of the Owner rental vehicle by Renter or an AAD, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. EP includes UM/UIM coverage for bodily injury and property damage (only where required by law for property damage) in an amount equal to the minimum financial responsibility limits applicable to the Vehicle (the Primary Protection), and additional coverage, through an excess liability policy, with limits for the difference between the statutory minimum underlying limits and $100,000 per accident (for rentals commencing in New York, UM/UIM limits are $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident; for rentals commencing in Hawaii, the UM/UIM limits are $1,000,000 combined single limit) or state mandated UM/UIM limit, whichever is greater. OWNER AND RENTER REJECT ANY ADDITIONAL UM/UIM COVERAGE TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. EP, including UM/UIM benefits is provided only when Renter or any AAD are driving the Vehicle. No claim for UM/UIM may be made due to the negligence of the driver of the Vehicle. EP coverage is in effect only while another AAD or Renter is driving the Vehicle within the United States and Canada; coverage does not apply in Mexico.  ADDITIONAL POLICY EXCLUSIONS INCLUDE: (A) BODILY INJURY OR DEATH TO RENTER, ANY AAD, OR TO THE BLOOD RELATIVES OR FAMILY OF RENTER OR AN AAD, IF SUCH RELATIVES OR FAMILY RESIDE IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD WITH RENTER OR WITH AN AAD; (B) PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE RENTAL VEHICLE; (C) FINES, PENALTIES, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (D) BODILY INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE EXPECTED OR INTENDED FROM THE STANDPOINT OF THE INSURED; AND (E) ANY OBLIGATION FOR WHICH THE INSURED OR THE INSURED’S INSURER MAY BE HELD LIABLE UNDER ANY WORKER’S COMPENSATION, DISABILITY BENEFITS OR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION LAW OR ANY SIMILAR LAW. Option 2 -  We Refill. --This option allows the renter to pay Alamo at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced. Price per gallon will be higher than local fuel prices.

  • Customers who reside in the United States, U.S. Territories, or Canada

Customers who reside in the U.S., U.S. Territories, or Canada must present a valid, unexpired government-issued Driver’s license which includes a photograph of the customer.  Digital licenses are not accepted.  The driver's license must be valid for the entire rental period.

Members of the United States Armed Forces who are on active duty may present an expired home state license under the following conditions:

    • They also present an Active Military ID, and

    • They are in compliance with their military extension policy of the state which issued the license.  These policies vary by state and customers are encouraged to check with the appropriate department of motor vehicles for more information.

Customers travelling to the U.S. and Canada from other countries

It is important that customers check with the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles in the States or Provinces in which they intend to travel to ensure compliance with their various licensing laws.  The following practices are used to ensure the customer is presenting a facially valid license at the time of rental.

Customers traveling to the United States and Canada from another country must present the following:

    • Their home country driver’s license that is valid, unexpired and includes a photograph, and

    • If the home country license is in a language other than English (or French, for rentals in Canada) and the letters are English (i.e. German, Spanish, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is recommended, but not required, for translation purposes in addition to the home country license.

    • If the home country license is in a language other than English and the letters are not English (i.e.alphabet is not an extended Latin-based alphabet like German or Spanish but is Russian, Japanese, Arabic, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is required.

    • If an International Driver’s permit cannot be obtained in the home country, another professional, type-written translation may be substituted.  In either case the home country license must also be presented.

    • Customers may not rent a vehicle solely with the International Driver’s Permit.  The International Driver’s Permit is a translation of the individual’s home country license and is not considered a license nor is it considered valid identification.

    • In some US locations, customers not holding a US driver’s license may be asked to provide additional documentation.  Examples of this may include a valid passport or, in certain states (AZ, CA, CO, NM, TX) a valid Mexican voter registration card and/or inbound and outbound travel documentation.
    • In some Canadian locations, customers not holding a Canadian driver’s license may be asked to provide additional valid government-issued documentation.  Examples of this may include a valid passport.

    Other requirements

    • Photocopies of Driver’s Licenses are not accepted

    • “Learner’s Permits” are not accepted.

    • Any license which, on its face, restricts the licensee to the use and operation of a vehicle equipped with a form of a breathalyzer apparatus is not accepted.

    • Temporary Driver’s Licenses may be refused if the renting location is unable to otherwise verify the customer’s identity or verify the authenticity of the temporary license.  Additional Government-issued identification may be required.

  • The following forms of payment are accepted at the end of the rental.

    VISA®
    MasterCard®
    American Express®
    Discover Network®
    Debit Card
    Traveler's Check

Please read the Renter Requirements Policy for details pertaining to deposits and general rental requirements at this location. Additional authorizations from your account will be obtained to cover the cost of the rental charges. Alamo is not responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.

  • RENTER REQUIREMENTS -

All renters and additional drivers must be 21 or older. All renters must have a valid driver’s license and a major credit card or debit card in their name. Individuals with learners’ or instructional permits are not eligible to rent. This is only a summary. For additional details, please reference the Driver’s License Information Policy.

    AGE -

The underage surcharge for drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 is $25 per day. Renters between the ages of 21 and 24 may rent the following vehicle classes: Economy through Full Size cars, Cargo and Minivans, Pickup Trucks, and Compact, Small and Standard SUVs with seating up to 5 passengers.

    DEBIT CARD -

At airport locations, debit card deposits are only accepted at the time of rental if accompanied by a ticketed return travel itinerary. The name and address shown on the renter’s driver’s license must match their current home address. Active duty military personnel are exempt from address requirements.

Renters using a debit card may rent the following vehicle classes: Economy through Full Size cars, Cargo and Minivans, Pickup Trucks, and Compact, Small and Standard SUVs with seating up to 5 passengers.

Other than the renter’s spouse or domestic partner, no other additional drivers are allowed.

At the time of rental, charges will be placed on the debit card which reduce the available funds in the account associated with the card used. Renter is responsible for any overdraft fees incurred. See Rental Authorization and Deposit Amount for more details.

RENTAL AUTHORIZATION AND DEPOSIT AMOUNT -

Disembarking passengers will be asked to provide a credit card or debit card with funds to cover the cost of rental. Renters without a ticketed return travel itinerary will need to provide a credit card with sufficient funds to cover the cost of the rental plus $300. Debit cards are only accepted at the time of rental if accompanied by a ticketed return travel itinerary.

Money orders and prepaid cards are not acceptable forms of security deposit but may be used to pay any balance due at the end of the rental.  Cash is not accepted.

  • Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, SLP provides the renter and authorized drivers with up to $300,000 combined single limit for third party liability claims. If the renter accepts SLP, Alamo provides third party liability protection up to the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit and Zurich American Insurance Company provides excess third party liability insurance coverage from the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit to $300,000. This is a summary only. SLP is subject to the terms, conditions, provisions, limitations and exclusions in the supplemental rental liability insurance excess policy underwritten by Zurich American Insurance Company. The purchase of SLP is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by SLP may duplicate the renters existing coverage. Alamo is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renters existing coverage; therefore the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by SLP.

Las Vegas Airport Car Rental

A quick guide to Las Vegas

What to see and do in San Diego

Take to the Strip

You’ll be renting your car from McCarran International Airport, located in downtown Paradise on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The bright lights of South Las Vegas Boulevard border the airport grounds. More famously known as ‘the Strip’, this is where you’ll find iconic casinos and hotels like the fantasy-inspired Excalibur and the ancient Egyptian-themed Luxor Hotel & Casino.

Even if you don’t plan on hitting the slots, there’s plenty to take in along the Strip. Head to the Stratosphere Casino for the 160ft ‘Big Shot’ ride or find something more relaxed on a Venice-style gondola cruise at The Venetian.

The awe-inspiring Grand Canyon

Having a Las Vegas airport rental car is an excellent opportunity to explore the scenery of the Nevada desert. The western end of the Grand Canyon is just over two hours away.

One of the globe’s most impressive natural wonders, this mighty canyon has been carved by the tumultuous waters of the Colorado River, charting a course through red rock for millennia. At its most breathtaking, the Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, 18 miles (29 km) wide and almost a mile deep.

You could enjoy a helicopter tour and soar over the full expanse of the rock formation to truly appreciate the Grand Canyon in all its glory.

Explore the Mojave

Drive among towering rock formations and dusty plateaus in the Red Rock National Park. Bordering Las Vegas, this parkland is home to impressive natural sandstone monuments, carved by the elements over centuries.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Roman opulence at Caesar’s Palace

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to upmarket casino resorts and five-star hotels in Las Vegas, but Caesar’s Palace is perhaps the most iconic. Instantly recognizable in the Las Vegas skyline, the vast hotel is styled to resemble architecture from the heydays of the Roman Empire. Stunning facilities are only matched by the vast Colosseum theatre, where you’ll be able to catch shows from the latest big-name acts and global stars.

Where to eat and drink in Las Vegas

Kabuto

Sushi fans can tuck into delicious sashimi and other sumptuous seafood morsels at this quality edomae-style Japanese restaurant. Inspired by the roadside cafes of Tokyo harbour, Kabuto infuses traditional sushi practices with a fine-dining experience. Try one of the seasonal platters for an incredible selection of sashimi, grill and nigiri dishes.

Bonito Michoacán

Traditional Mexican cooking is the star of the show at Bonito Michoacán, a family-run establishment in downtown Las Vegas. A great place to start your day with a hearty breakfast of huevos rancheros. Away from the fine dining of Vegas’ Strip, you’ll find delicious meals and plenty of flavour at this popular joint.

Ferraro’s Restaurant & Wine Bar

Ferraro’s brings the tastes of southern Italy to Las Vegas’ Strip. Sample homemade classics including fresh pasta dishes, marinara meatballs and fresh bread. With three decades in the business, this family-run spot is a firm fixture and beloved favourite of the Vegas food scene.
