Call of Duty Warzone's New Pacific Map Has a Release Date

Call of Duty: Warzone's new Pacific map debuts on December 2, a little less than a month after Call of Duty: Vanguard launches on November 5.

Activision released Call of Duty's new content roadmap on Thursday, laying out the important dates that will lay the groundwork for transitioning players from Verdansk to the sandy shores of Caldera. Several new images of Caldera were also revealed.

It's all laid out in Call of Duty's colossal blog, but here are the highlights you need to know.

October 28 (console) and November 2 (PC): Call of Duty: Vanguard pre-loading begins. If you're worried that your hard drive will choke on yet another Call of Duty install, the good news is that Vanguard will be 30% to 50% smaller than previous games' install sizes. Still sounds like a good chunk of storage space, though.

Have you played Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?

November 5: Call of Duty: Vanguard launches on consoles and PC. That includes the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes. This is also when Call of Duty's new kernel-level anti-cheat program "Ricochet" will begin server-side implementation. Warzone's Ricochet implementation begins on December 2.

November 5 to December 2: Preseason in Vanguard. This includes a new Vanguard map on November 17.

November 18: Call of Duty: Warzone's Operation: Flashback event begins. This is described as an "encore" limited-time event that celebrates Verdansk's 18 months of service. Players can earn a unique emblem just for participating and an animated calling card for winning their match.

November 24: You can unlock the "secrets of the Pacific" and get intel on the Caldera map by completing Warzone and Vanguard multiplayer challenges.

November 30 and December 1: The "Last Hours of Verdansk" event. Activision is teasing the event saying "bombs away," suggesting we'll see a fairly destructive wiping of the slate before Caldera goes lives. Considering they've already nuked Verdansk once, one wonders how much bigger the bombs can get.

December 2: Call of Duty Season One begins in Vanguard and Warzone. Vanguard players will receive access to new multiplayer maps, 24 hours of exclusive access to Warzone, and Warzone launches the new Pacific map Caldera. Players will also be able to purchase a new battle pass and will receive two free "functional" weapons.

Vanguard will also see some integration in Call of Duty: Black Ops' and vice versa. All operators and calling cards from Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare will transfer to Warzone, including cross-progression and seasonal prestige.

Certain weapons from Black Ops and Modern Warfare will be integrated into certain Warzone playlists. This currently includes Rebirth Island playlists like Resurgence and Mini Royales, along with regular Battle Royale and Plunder modes. All of the 150+ weapons unlocked in previous seasons will integrate with Warzone Pacific as well.

A bevy of new images of Warzone Pacific's Caldera map was also revealed. Check out the gallery below for a look at the mountainous heights and sandy depths we'll be visiting for our next battle royale win. Activision says it'll feature more than 200 points of interest for players to discover.

Don't forget to check out our massive Call of Duty: Vanguard preview coverage. We recently got a behind-the-scenes look at Vanguard's campaign, plus a look at how God of War composer Bear McCreary is bringing his signature musical style to Call of Duty's firefights.

New Warzone map: Everything we know

Looking for details about the new Warzone map? Season 6 has finally arrived in Warzone, bringing with it some map-wide changes. Though we can no longer access the original Verdansk map and its bunkers, due to that nuke in Season 5, there are some new WW2 bunkers to discover.

There's also more info about the new Warzone map that was announced as part of the Call of Duty: Vanguard reveal, namely that, we're finally leaving Verdansk and heading to the Pacific for a more lush and tropical setting.

So whether you prefer Verdansk, Rebirth Island, or want details about the new Warzone Pacific map, this guide has you covered. If you also want stay up to date with latest competitive builds, this best Warzone loadout list can offer some help.

The new Warzone map is going to the Pacific

Thanks to an update by Raven Software's Associate Creative Director Amos Hodge, we now know a bit more about the upcoming new addition to Warzone. We also know we're finally leaving Verdansk.

You can check out the Vanguard reveal below, handily timestamped for the Call of Duty Warzone new map reveal.

Hodge claimed the team wanted to "feel and character" of Vanguard extends all the way into Call of Duty: Warzone. We're heading all the way to the Pacific, and from the pre-alpha footage of the map seen in the video, it looks really nice.

The various murky shades of Verdansk are long gone, with lovely waterfalls, palm trees, and blue skies visible. The Warzone update will share an engine with Vanguard too, meaning development will be simultaneous and hopefully both games will be well-supported with regular updates.

Its working title is 'Warzone Pacific' at the moment, but we'll keep you updated with any further developments. We also know the new map will become available shortly after Vanguard's release.

Verdansk map updates: what's changing?

In Warzone Season 6, Verdansk has some pretty big map changes. The stadium is shaken up with a huge fissure separating the central grounds into the split upper area and the underground section below. Other parts of downtown have been ruined with fallen buildings as well.

There are also new Warzone bunkers for you to discover and find your way inside, and though they don't offer lots of loot, or require passcodes, their role is likely still to be played as part of teasing Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Last up for Warzone map changes is the return of the original locker room Gulag level. The dark, tight spaces of the 1v1 area are back for season 6.

Warzone Verdansk map hot zones and best loot

The best Warzone loot can be found in supply boxes scattered across the map. The valuable items found in these chests are random, containing weapons (often blueprints with pre-fitted attachments), field upgrades, cash, and even the occasional killstreak. However, it's always worth keeping an eye out for the rarer, orange boxes, which hold better gear such as gas masks and armor satchels that let you hold more armor plates.

Closely related to the best loot are the hottest zones on the Warzone map. Hot zones are where you can expect the most bloodshed to go down at the very beginning of the game. Whether you want to avoid them so you can loot in peace or find somewhere to immediately bloody your hands, check the list below. It's no coincidence that these locations also coincide with loot-rich spots.

Here's a list of the hot zones:

  • Gora Summit
  • Verdansk Airport
  • Superstore
  • Verdansk Hospital
  • Downtown Tavorsk District

Warzone Rebirth Island map: Best drop locations

Rebirth Island is a much smaller map, currently available in its own playlist. Modes like Rebirth Mini Royale Quads/ Duos are fast-paced matches that take place in condensed areas on the island. If you're hoping to run into other squads quickly as you hunt for the best Warzone guns, here are the best Rebirth Island drop locations:

  • Prison Block
  • Decon Zone
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Factory

There are also five ammo caches across Rebirth Island, found in: Factory, Chemical Engineering, Security Area, east of Construction Site, and west of Decon Zone.

Call of Duty Warzone new map details, preview event, and more

The new Warzone map has a name and release date. Previously referred to as the Pacific map, the new map is now officially titled Caldera, and it'll arrive alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard's season one launch. The new Warzone map will be a key element of the battle royale's transition from Black Ops Cold War to Vanguard content.

We still haven't seen a full trailer for the new map, but official images from Activision make it look lush and verdant, with industrial and urban locations dotted throughout thick jungle landscapes with rocky cliffs. While we wait for a gameplay trailer, here's all the currently available info about the new Warzone map.

Warzone new map release date

Activision has confirmed that the new Warzone map will replace Verdansk at the same time Call of Duty: Vanguard launches its first season of content: December 2.

Warzone new map preview event

Warzone's new Caldera map won't be available until December 2, but it sounds like there's some sort of preview event to help you prepare. On November 24, a limited-time event Activision is calling "Secrets of the Pacific" will give players "vital information on Caldera and its various points of interest prior to its launch in December," but only if you complete certain challenges across Vanguard and Warzone.

Warzone new map size

Raven Software says the new Warzone map will be roughly the same size as the Verdansk map, though clearly with a very different kind of layout, look, and topography. There’s also a decent chance we’ll see some changes to the map past its release, in the same way that the Verdansk map has proven very changeable since it first debuted.

Warzone new map details and locations

Hard details on Caldera's 200-plus points of interest are yet to be revealed, but images show a large, lush tropical island with numerous settlements, rushing rapids,  and overall a far greater sense of wilderness than Verdansk ever had. It’s not clear at this point whether the map will be set chronologically during the Second World War, as Vanguard is, or whether it’ll be closer to the present. Screenshots of the map feature WW2-era planes, but this next section of the guide would seem to suggest the map takes place in modern times.

Will guns and loadouts carry over into the new Warzone map?

Yes, it has been confirmed that any weapons, loadouts, and equipment bought or unlocked in Warzone previously will be usable as normal when the Pacific map is launched, including those from Modern Warfare and Cold War. You’ll lose nothing, not to mention that Vanguard will likely add a whole new range of mid-20th century weaponry to try out and use along the way.

Obviously there’s a lot here that may change over the coming months, so we’ll be sure to update this page as new information is revealed along the way.
