1967 Mustang Front Lower Control Arms Part # TBF-6 (Sold as a Pair)

Global West Suspension manufactures a tubular lower control arm for 1967 Mustangs. The arm contains a replaceable spherical bearing instead of a rubber or polyurethane bushing. The TBF-6 is powder coated black, fully assembled and is ready for installation right out of the box. Rubber has a tendency to deflect during hard cornering and polyurethane restricts the arm from tilting as the suspension moves up and down. Note: The tilt of the control arm comes from the strut rod. You want the lower arm to move freely without restriction but still remain in its intended path. The spherical bearing will do that. The Global West Suspension: Front Lower Control Arms In addition to the upgraded bushing, we also have a replaceable lower ball joint. With factory lower arms, when the ball joint wears out, you have to replace the entire control arm. In this case the only the ball is required. The lower ball joint is a standard Chrysler ball joint used in street cars as well as a favorite ball joint in stock cars. This ball joint can be serviced anywhere in the county. During the design of this control arm, Global West choose to maintain the stock length. Making the arm adjustable creates problems with the geometry of the front end. It can make the alignment easier but the side effect are not worth it. Plus the arm is stronger without the adjustment. Global West manufactures its control arms in house. The main tube is made out of 1 5/8 dom (drawn over mandrel) .125 wall material tubing. The twin side tubes are 1-inch .125 wall dom tubing. The arm is jig fitted during the machining process and during welding. As you can imagine, the arm is very strong compared to the factory arm. The control arm is a fixed length arm Global West is known for building long lasting products. For more information, watch the YouTube tech video above.

Global West Suspension MNR-733 1967-1973 Mustang Upper Control Arms

Global West Negative Roll tubular upper control arms improve the geometry of the stock Mustang suspension while adding additional strength. The arms come pre-assembled and are supplied with billet steel cross shafts, Del-A-Lum low friction bushings, ball joints, and instructions.

  • Requires drilling new mount holes in your shock tower
  • Includes drill template
  • Changes camber curve when used with Global West lower arms
  • Generates negative camber to keep tire foot print flatter on the pavement
  • Gain improved cornering and longer tire life

Installation Tips

What You Should Know:

  • The upper arm is not stock length and the ball joint angles have been corrected for the new mounting location. Do not use a stock arm in out mounting holes.
  • This is NOT a Shelby modification.
  • If you have already done the Shelby modification you have two choices:
    1. You can use our control arm in the Shelby location however the curve (camber gain) will not be the same. Negative camber gain is reduced. If you are not racing the car it is not a big deal and you will still feel a handling improvement. If you plan on racing then you must do option 2.
    2. Weld up the Shelby holes and drill new holes using our template.
  • Shorter performance springs are recommended for both MNR kits. If stock springs are used, trimming the spring will be required. Progressive rate springs are not recommended with the Negative Roll System.
  • Negative Roll System should never be used for drag racing.

1967 – 1970 Mustang Cougar | StrongArm Control Arms – Front Lower

What says “performance” more than a set of tubular control arms! After all of the time and effort expended on your ride, you definitely can’t let your stamped OEM control arms detract from all that work. Finish your suspension off with these new tubular control arm systems from Ridetech. Built with all of the care and experience you have come to expect from us, these tubular control arms are a precision engineered solution for ShockWave® installation, ball joint binding, and frame clearance issues that can haunt some vehicles. When you combine the performance benefits with the elegant design of these arms, there is no question…. You want these.

Development   –    StrongArms™ are developed by Ridetech® in Jasper, Indiana on an actual running, driving vehicle. This allows us to properly address ALL fitment and performance issues. It also allows us to document an installation, demonstrate the installation to our sales techs and dealers, and allows ongoing evaluation of the performance of the StrongArms™

Design   –    We think the best way to design any component is to keep it simple. That is why Strong Arms™ are designed with as few components as possible. We have a new 4 axis tubing bender that allows precise, repeatable bends that no other machine can achieve. We can create elegant tubing bends that would otherwise require several separate welded components.

Components   –    We have worked closely with Moog, a major manufacturer of OEM ball joints, to ensure that the proper ball joints have been selected for the Application… a compression style unit in a compression application, a tension ball joint in a tension application. Proper poly or rubber bushings are selected based on application and the type of driving or racing that is anticipated.

Geometry   –    Geometry of a suspension starts with the position of the frame mounts and the height of the spindle, not the shape of the control arm. However, there are a few small things in control arm design that can make a big difference in how a vehicle drives and performs.

  • We create extra caster potential by adjusting the fore and aft position of the ball joints. At the same time we make sure the wheel is properly positioned in the wheel-well so your new 18″ wheels fit like they should!
  • The ball joint camber travel is re-centered to accommodate the new lowered ride height so the ball joint doesn’t bind during extreme suspension movement.
  • The perimeter of the StrongArms is contoured to allow maximum wheel clearance and turning radius.
  • All shock mounts, air spring mounts, and sway bar mounts are integrated into the design so you don’t have to finish the engineering in order to enjoy your ride!

StrongArms™ are optimized to allow proper camber adjustment at your new lowered ride height without using a large stack of shims.

All STRONGARMS include ball joints, and bushings. They are bolt-on: ready to install!

Front Benefits:

  • We build the arm one piece to eliminate the strut rod.
  • Where the factory strut rod uses a rubber bushing to attach to the car we use a bearing setup. The bearing setup gets rid of the compression that is experienced with hard braking and cornering.
  • Our upper control arm cross shaft lowers the pivot point. By lowering the pivot point of the upper control it increases the camber gain, this helps keep the tire flat on the road surface when you are going through hard corners. This is all done with no additional drilling, the drop is built into the control arm cross shaft.
  • The lower arm uses an eccentric eliminator. This plate has multiple positions to be used in aligning the car, and once they are set you do not have to worry about your alignment moving. Any fine tuning that is needed, can be done with the upper control arm because it is fully adjustable.
