If your Canon printer won't print after changing ink cartridge then it might be possible that your Canon printer is not recognizing ink cartridge. So, just check these points to troubleshoot your Canon printer issue -

Remove Protective Tape –

In various printers, ink cartridges are shipped with a small strip of protective tape that covers the print nozzle. This protective tape blocks the nozzle to prevent ink from leaking. If you didn’t remove this tape then the cartridge will not print anything.

So, just remove the cartridge from Canon printer and look for that protective tape. If there are stickers or labels on the cartridge then don’t remove them as they seal the cartridge and the ink does not dry out.

If you are unable to fill ink cartridge properly then your printer will not print. While filling ink in the cartridge, inject ink into sponge through exit hole. Sometimes ink flow gets blocked when air bubbles trapped inside the cartridge. In such situations, allow the ink cartridge to sit unused for an hour.

By doing this, the air bubble will dislodge itself. If still the problem continues then remove the ink cartridge and gently tap it on a table so air bubbles can dislodge.

How to Replace Ink Cartridge on Canon TS6420 TS5320 TR7020 Printer

How to Replace & Align Canon Ink Cartridges

Canon printer cartridges supply ink and toner to the print head, which places the ink and toner on paper. Although small businesses commonly use all-in-one scanners, copiers and printers on a shared network, the method used to align a print cartridge is the same for non-networked Canon printers. If you're aligning a print cartridge on a networked Canon printer, though, you must use the host computer to access the cartridge alignment function.

Step 1

Power down your Canon printer and lift the scanning unit to access its cartridge carrier.

Step 2

Press downward on the cartridge housing to access the cartridges. Remove the cartridges from their carrier by lifting them straight up. Do not lift at a left or right angle as they will not release.

Step 3

Remove the orange film from the cartridges to expose their nozzles. Insert the cartridges straight down in the Canon’s cartridge carrier.

Step 4

Power up your Canon printer. Load a single sheet of plain paper of the same type you will use for your day-to-day operations in the printer. Navigate through your printer’s menu by way of the control panel and select the “Align Cartridge” option if available. Consult your printer’s operating manual for detailed instructions on aligning the cartridge. If the option is not available, you can also align the cartridge through your computer.

Step 5

Click the Start button and select “Devices and Printers.”

Step 6

Right-click the printer containing the cartridge you want to align and select “Printer properties” from the pop-up menu to open the Properties menu.

Step 7

Click the "Print Head Alignment” icon to open the Start Print Head Alignment window.

Step 8

Click “Align Print Head” to print a printer alignment page. Your new print cartridge is aligned.

How To Change Ink Cartridges On A Canon Pixema MX492

How to Load an Ink Cartridge in a Canon Printer

By Jason Artman

Keep up with your printer maintenance.

Changing ink cartridges is a routine part of printer maintenance, and you may find that you need to do so frequently if the Canon printer in your office sees regular use. Your Canon printer has an access door on the top or front of the unit, allowing you to remove or check the status of the installed ink cartridges. Open your printer's access door when print quality declines due to faded or missing colors, and replace the empty ink cartridge to return the printer's output to its normal quality.

Locate and open the access door for your Canon printer. In most cases, you can access the printer's ink cartridges by placing your hand under the top panel of the printer and lifting up. If your printer has a built-in scanner, locate and lower the plastic arm on the underside of the scanner bed to lock the panel in place. Some Canon printer models, such as the PIXMA PRO-1, do not have top access doors; in this case, look for access panels on the left and right sides of the paper tray, then pull them forward to open them.

Locate the empty cartridge by checking the status lights that become visible after you open the access door. The status light for a cartridge blinks or turns off when the cartridge is empty.

Push the tab above or in front of the empty cartridge to release it from its slot. Lift or pull the cartridge out of the Canon printer.

Remove the replacement ink cartridge from its box, but do not open the inner wrapping yet. Check the wrapper for instructions directing you to shake the cartridge before opening it. If you need to shake the cartridge, hold it parallel with the floor and shake several times with a gentle side-to-side motion. You must shake ink cartridges for the Canon PIXMA PRO-1 before opening them, but most Canon ink cartridges do not have this requirement.

Remove the ink cartridge from its wrapper. Peel away the tape covering the metal contact points and twist off the plastic cap, if present.

Push the cartridge into the empty slot so the metal contacts face the inside of the slot and the release tab faces toward you. When installed properly, the cartridge snaps into place and the nearby status light turns on.

Close the printer's access door and wait for the printer's indicator light to go solid before attempting to print.
