How to unlock Modern Warfare camos, including the high level Gold, Platinum and Damascus

As is always the case with Call of Duty, there's plenty of Modern Warfare camos to grind for and unlock, whether you're playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare multiplayer or Call of Duty Warzone. From the basic spray paint and woodland camos to the mastery ones like Damascus and even Modern Warfare Obsidian, we've got all of the Modern Warfare camos explained for you here.

Modern Warfare camos are separated into two varieties: base camos, and sub-camos. The main camouflage types are:

  • Spray Paint
  • Woodland
  • Digital
  • Dragon
  • Splinter
  • Topo
  • Tiger
  • Stripes
  • Reptile
  • Skulls

The first ten camouflages are unlocked by increasing the Weapon’s XP Level. This is done simply by using the gun and getting kills with it. Once a base camouflage is unlocked, then a number of different variations to that camo are available upon completing challenges. For example: the base camouflage ‘Woodland’ is unlocked for the P90 once the player reaches Weapon Level 8. From there, the player must get a certain number of headshot kills with the P90 to unlock further variations of the Woodland camo, and so on.

These weapon challenges are the same across weapon classes, ie every SMG will need to attain Headshot Kills to further progress along the ‘Woodland’ line, whereas the same camo might require different challenges in the Shotgun class. Even the Riot Shield has customisable camouflage options to unlock if you really want to keep busy.

Modern Warfare Gold, Platinum, Damascus, and Obsidian camos

There are also four mastery camouflage classes found in Modern Warfare: Gold, Platinum, Damascus and Obsidian.

  • Gold camo - available when you have unlocked every other camo for their gun, aka completed all the camo challenges.
  • Platinum camo - available when you have unlocked Gold camouflage for the entire weapon class. So, if you want Platinum camouflage for your MP7, you’ll need to rank up every other SMG to max level to get the Gold camo for each.
  • Damascus camo - unlocked when every single gun in the game has earned the Platinum camouflage.
  • Obsidian camo - unlocked by completing kill challenges with specific guns, i.e 15 kills in 200 different matches with the MP5. You can only make a start on it once you've unlocked Gold for that specific weapon.

Nope, you're not reading that wrong: if you want the Modern Warfare Damascus camo, you have to complete every single camouflage challenge for every single weapon in the game. Let's be honest, a lot of people are never going to get close to that, although using the Double Weapon XP tokens available from playing through the single player campaign should provide players with a helpful boost in their quest to attain their camouflage of choice.

In the meantime this what the Gold, Damascus, and Obsidian options look like:

This huge number of unlockable camouflages sets a high standard of completion for players to reach, but if you're an avid Modern Warfare player, they're definitely worth grinding towards.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare has been one of the few things that have maintained gamers' sanity during the Covid-19 lockdowns, with players grinding countless hours to rip through the battle pass tiers, or simply to get good at the game. However, if you are looking for a challenge, the Damascus camo is right up your street. Here’s how to unlock the Damascus camo in Modern Warfare.

Spoiler – prepare for a serious CoD grind

What is the Damascus Camo?

The Damascus camo is unlocked by achieving every other camouflage in the game for each weapon; That means having gold on all 39 guns that you can use. As well as looking awesome when equipped to your gun, the Damascus camo has an aura of significance about it. Seeing it on your Kill-Cam creates a sense of awe for the person who owns it. You will definitely be held in high regard if you sport the Damascus.

How to unlock the Damascus Camo

You will unlock the Damascus Camo by getting gold on each weapon that you can use. That means all primary weapons (Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Light Machine Guns, Marksmen Rifles, Snipers and Shotguns), and all secondary weapons (Pistols, Launchers and Melee).

Also, don't forget to check out everything we know about CoD: Vanguard, including all the leaks, release dates and more!

To achieve the gold camo you will have to unlock every camo for the weapon you are wielding. There are ten categories for each weapon, which require a series of challenges for you to unlock them. Ranging from longshot kills to kills shortly after reloading, these challenges can be somewhat tedious, giving the Damascus Camo an essence of self-gratitude. Some weapons, such as the popular M4A1, can be completed much quicker than others, for instance, the Riot Shield, which can leave you wanting to pull it out of the screen and bang your head against it.

Infinity Ward has predicted that it can take approximately 18 hours to get a gold gun camo, meaning that with the 39 guns, this can take you just over 702 hours of gameplay – although we think you can get this done much quicker by following our Call of Duty tips further down this page.

Tips to help you unlock Damascus quickly

#1 – Leave one of your favourite guns until the end. Spreading out your favourite weapons will keep you from losing momentum in the grind for the Damascus.

#2 – Run a melee weapon as your secondary throughout the process. Having a knife or riot shield equipped may allow you to complete some challenges for that weapon on the side. This will take a significant amount of time off the total.

#3 – Play a suitable game mode. Objective game modes are best as you will need to complete challenges such as double kills and attack medals. Catching people running to an objective will help you complete these quickly. We would recommend playing a mixture of Ground War, for multi-kills and high kill games, and Hardcore Hardpoint, as you will be required to get 1 shot kills.

#4 – Start with the most difficult challenges. Challenges like ‘Overall kills’ will progress whilst you complete other challenges, so it is best not to focus your time in completing these first. Most challenges require you to get kills, so choosing an order that suits you best will help optimise the speed in which you complete them in.

#5 – Choose your attachments wisely. Some challenges like ‘hip-fire’ kills can be made easier by equipping the correct attachments. The 5mW laser and the Merc Foregrip increase hip-fire accuracy, which will help you massively when trying to complete this.

Follow these five tips will help you quickly progress through these challenges.

Unlocking DAMASCUS CAMO in MODERN WARFARE!!

Most Call of Duty players enjoy customizing their weapons with cool camos in each game. And in Warzone and Modern Warfare, there are a lot of camos to choose from.

In total, you can unlock 104 unique camos for each gun in Modern Warfare. There are 10 basic categories that each have 10 unique camos you can unlock by completing certain challenges, like getting kills while crouching or mounted.

Here are the 10 basic camo categories in Modern Warfare.

  • Spray Paint
  • Woodland
  • Digital
  • Dragon
  • Splinter
  • Topo
  • Tiger
  • Stripes
  • Reptile
  • Skulls

Once you earn all 100 basic camos for a weapon, you’ll unlock the Completionist category. This category includes the highly-coveted Gold, Platinum, Damascus, and Obsidian camos. You’ll earn the Gold camo for a gun when you complete the 100 basic camos. But the fun is just getting started there.

If you want to unlock the Platinum camo, you’ll need to get Gold for each gun in a particular weapon class. So if you want to have Platinum for your assault rifles, you’ll need to complete the 100 basic camo challenges for the eight initial ARs in Modern Warfare.

And if you want to unlock Damascus, you’ll need to earn the Platinum camo for every single weapon class in Warzone or Modern Warfare. But the grind is still just beginning.

To unlock the final camo, Obsidian, you’ll need to kill 15 enemies in a match 200 times. This definitely won’t be an easy process, but it could be rewarding in the end.

Damascus modern camo warfare

Hey!

My name is Alexis, and I’m in charge of Call of Duty services at LFCarry.com.

In short, I’m a 24/7 Shipment guy. On other maps, thanks to sophisticated respawns, I’m often killed from behind, although just a second ago, I can swear there was nobody there.

Shipment is the absolute chaos of war. I enjoy warming up there before Warzone or experimenting with loadouts. In this close quarters hell, there’s no time to think, you gotta act!

Unfortunately, not all players share my opinion - I often hear “stop sweating dude,” “dude, let us camo,” etc. For these players, I’m a sweaty guy that gets in the way of them completing challenges.

But could it be… my fault that I want to win? Why are some camo challenges so absurd? You can’t complete them if you’re not solely playing for the sake of the challenge. This has nothing to do with skill!

Camouflages reflect your ability to get camouflages, patience, time spent, that’s all, but not your real gaming skill.

The mere thought that I will spend my evenings dying over and over when I’m just trying to stab someone makes me sick. Why can’t these skins be bought in the store? HOW is this different from other blueprints

The answer is simple - it is POSSIBLE.

We’ll match you with a Pro who will complete challenges while you, for example, are at work.

$560 for Damascus – ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

- It’s the best price on the market, really.

- You can share your current progress in our chat, and we’ll calculate a personal price based on it. Of course, the final cost will be lower.

- You can buy separate parts, for example, only melee weapons, which will make things much more affordable.

- You can even pay in installments through the Partial.ly service.

Think different - in addition to camouflage, you’re essentially maxing the level of all your weapons! No matter how the meta changes, you’ll be ready! Plus, we’ll boost your Season Pass.

Me, I bought my Damascus, and I am not ashamed!

But, enough of me, see what other players like you think about their experience with LFCarry.com.
