‘Cousin Brucie’ to Exit Sirius XM’s ’60s on 6 Channel After 15 Years on the Air
In a surprising move, longtime Sirius XM on-air personality Cousin Brucie Morrow will depart the ’60s on 6 channel after his show this Saturday night, August 1.
The 84-year-old Morrow, whose real name is Bruce Meyerowitz, has been a fixture on the channel hosting nights weekly from Wednesday through Saturday since 2005. He joined Sirius XM shortly after CBS-FM switched from Oldies to an adult-hit format under the Jack FM banner. Morrow was signed to a multi-year deal hosting oldies programming and a weekly talk program for Sirius, as well as Cousin Brucie’s Saturday Night Dance Party-Live and Cruisin’ With Cousin Bruce on Wednesdays.
A company spokesperson said: “After broadcasting on SiriusXM since 2005, Cousin Brucie has chosen to step away from the mic. After many amazing years broadcasting on SiriusXM, and a celebrated career of more than 60 years in radio, we wish Brucie the best in any future endeavor.”
While Morrow will sign off from the satellite giant on Saturday night, he hinted that he is not retiring, directing listeners to his Facebook page for more details.
Born in Brooklyn, Morrow launched his career on the air on WZBM-AM in Bermuda, and later joined 1010 Wins in 1959, adopting his on-air moniker, “Cousin Brucie.” He made his mark as the night jock on WABC in 1961, hosting many shows at New Jersey’s Palisades Park and introducing The Beatles at their iconic Shea Stadium appearance. He took over for the departed Wolfman Jack on WNBC in New York in 1974. He went on to become a station owner, forming Sillerman Morrow Broadcasting with Robert FX Sillerman and acquiring multiple stations in Northeastern markets. He joined CBS FM in 1982, hosting multiple shows, including the nationally syndicated “Cruisin’ America.”
Morrow also segued into television and film, appearing as a magician who sawed Jennifer Grey’s character, Baby, in half in the movie “Dirty Dancing.” Additional onscreen credits include 1978’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and science fiction series “Babylon 5.”
Morrow’s departure comes six months after the exit of another high-profile on-air personality, Kid Kelly, who was also Sirius XM’s vice president of pop programming .

Whoa! Didn't see this one coming. My radio habits are about to be uprooted once again (But then again, heck, don't they always?). Sirius XM is about to see a minor shakeup on one of its products, and it's also one of its most popular ones.
You see, 60s on 6 is undergoing a little bit of change..... with its lineup. It's the first big shuffle they've had in quite a few years. Found that out this morning on the radio, and then looked online later on.
There's going to be a new guy on the evening-to-night shift, and he's coming from Los Angeles. You'll be hearing Shotgun Tom in the night, beginning next week, and he'll be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Yep, friends, he's the newest addition to the 60s on 6 family. Meanwhile, Phlash Phelps will get his workload cut, as his show will go to just five hours, followed by Dave Hoeffel for four hours, and then Pat St. John for another four (except on Wednesday, when he'll do only two). What won't change will be Bruce Morrow on Wednesdays and Saturdays live (with Sundays prerecorded), and Ken Merson with the Satellite Survey shows. My only gripe is that 60s on 6 still won't have a deejay on the air after 8 p.m., Pacific time. It doesn't need to be a six-hour effort. They just need one more voice from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., Eastern time (8 to 11 p.m., Pacific). Shotgun Tom probably could have filled that void by having him start later, give Phelps one of his hours back, and add possibly one each to Dave and Pat.
Should be an interesting Labor Day weekend for Sirius XM listeners.

Sirius XM satellite radio channel
Radio station
The '60s on 6 (or just The '60s) is a commercial-free, satellite radio station on the Sirius XM Radio platform. It plays music from the 1960s. Airing on XM since 2001, the channel became available to Sirius subscribers replacing '60s Vibrations on November 12, 2008, following the merger of the two companies. The station currently broadcasts on channel 6 of both services, as well as on Dish Network channel 6006.
Like the other decades channels, The '60s on 6 works to recreate the feel of 1960s radio. They use similar DJs, classic PAMS jingles, period slang, and news updates. The channel was also used for XM's annual rock and roll hits music chronology, IT.
The logo features a Peace sign for the zero in its logo.
As of 2008, The '60s on 6 was the fifth most listened to station on the XM service, with a cume of 581,300 listeners per week, according to Arbitron analysis.[1]
Post Sirius XM merger[edit]
With the merger of many Sirius XM channels on November 12, 2008, there were some changes to 60s on 6. The channel's playlist, which had once exceeded 3,000 songs was sliced to emphasize Top 10 hits more, with most of the lower-charting tracks as well as many of the crossover and novelty hits of the era removed and abandoned from the rotation. Pat Clarke, who helmed the channel since the 2004 departure of Program Director and channel creator, Cleveland Wheeler, was dismissed along with another disk jockey, Marty "with the Party" Thompson. Phlash Phelps and Terry "Motormouth" Young were spared, and "Broadway" Bill Lee and Mike Kelly joined the airstaff. Lee eventually moved to the '70s on 7 channel. Cousin Brucie began a live Saturday all-request show. Wolfman Jack was moved into an early afternoon block, and was eventually eliminated altogether, along with other channel fixtures such as the Sonic Sound Salute, Sweet Sixteen Music Machine countdown, and Chickenman.
The classic PAMS jingles were edited to remove references to XM Radio, or jingles not referencing XM were used. In the summer of 2009, PAMS produced a new set of jingles based on its Series 31, "Music Explosion" for the channel.
Prior to the merger, it was the only XM channel to not change its zero in the logo, since it has always been a peace sign. All decades channels changed logos, whereas this channel, along with the '40s on 4 and the '70s on 7 are updated logos from their predecessors. The current logo for The '60s on 6 is the same, but "The" is phased out on the left, and adds the "on 6" info at the right.

Whether you’re into music from the 60s, dig countdown shows (thanks Casey!), or can’t get enough of the stories behind the stacks of wax that hit the charts, you gotta check out the “Sixties Satellite Survey” on Sirius XM’s 60s on 6. It airs Saturdays, 3pm ET, with rebroadcasts on Sundays and Wednesdays at 9pm ET – AND now On Demand.
We at Spin-Clean think the show could be the best music program going on radio (satellite or terrestrial) thanks to the amazing talents of host, Lou Simon. Each week, Lou takes a look back at a top 40 chart from this week in the 60’s. You’ll hear the hits as well as some long forgotten singles with plenty of Motown, British stars, novelty records, instrumentals, folk rock and lots more.
But it’s Lou’s tremendous ability to unravel layer after layer of the time period, offering up the feel and flavor of the era, that sets this show apart from all the others. Lou’s mellifluous tones, coupled with his encyclopedic recall of everything pop culture, make this a must-listen each and every week.
